Morlun's crimson eyes burned with renewed hunger as he turned his gaze toward Nova.
The tension in the room was suffocating.
Nova's transformation had given them a glimmer of hope, but Morlun was still standing. Worse—he looked interested now.
Gwen, Peter, and MJ took cautious steps back toward Nova, instinctively forming a loose defensive line. Their minds raced, adrenaline pumping through their veins as they processed everything that had just happened.
Peter broke the silence first. "Alright, someone wanna tell me how the hell we're supposed to take down that?" He gestured at Morlun, who merely dusted off his coat, his expression unreadable.
MJ, still adjusting to the sight of Nova's new form, exhaled sharply. "Yeah, because last I checked, throwing a whole damn building on him didn't work."
Ghost-Spider's eyes flicked between Nova and Morlun. She was analyzing, strategizing. "We need a plan," she said. "Something fast."
Nova clenched his hands, the arcs of energy around his fingers crackling louder as he absorbed the ambient electricity in the room. His mind was sharper than ever, the Omnitrix's transformation enhancing not just his power, but his processing speed.
"We can't beat him in a straight fight," he said, voice steady. "He's stronger, tougher, and from what I can tell, doesn't stay down."
Peter scoffed. "Yeah, we kinda got that part already."
Gwen cut in. "But he has limits. He felt your attack previously, Nova. It slowed him down."
MJ frowned. "Barely."
"Barely is enough," Nova countered. "Which means he isn't invincible. He's just built different. But if we can find the right pressure point…"
Peter crossed his arms. "Okay, so where's the pressure point on a guy who shrugs off getting crushed, and punched through solid walls?"
Gwen's face hardened. "His connection to the Totem."
MJ's brows furrowed. "The what?"
Nova glanced at Gwen, nodding. "You're right. Morlun feeds off Spider-Totems—people like you." He looked at Peter and Gwen. "Which means he's bound by the same energy. If we disrupt that connection—"
Peter snapped his fingers. "We starve him."
"Exactly," Nova confirmed. "He needs to consume power, but if we overload his system, force him to take in too much at once—"
Gwen's eyes widened in realization. "We can short-circuit him."
Nova smirked. "Bingo."
Peter pointed at Nova. "Okay, cool idea, but how do we do that?"
Nova turned his gaze toward Morlun, already forming the battle strategy. "I can act as a conduit. My new form lets me absorb and redirect energy. If I can channel a surge directly into him, it could disrupt his link to the Totem force."
MJ's eyes flickered with understanding. "Like overloading a circuit."
"Exactly." Nova looked at Gwen and Peter. "But I need an opening. You guys have fought him before—you know his patterns."
Peter rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck. "He's fast. Freakishly fast. But he's not as good at handling multiple opponents."
Gwen nodded. "And he likes to toy with us. He won't expect an actual coordinated strike."
Nova's circuitry pulsed brighter. "Good. Then here's the plan—"
Before Nova could finish, Morlun blurred forward.
Fast. Too fast.
Peter barely managed to react in time, shoving Gwen and MJ aside as Morlun tore through the space where they had been standing. His clawed fingers almost sank into Peter's chest, but Nova's cables lashed out, intercepting the attack with a violent crack of energy.
Morlun staggered back, the shock forcing him to release Peter.
"Move!" Nova barked.
The team scattered.
Peter flipped high, webs latching onto the fractured ceiling. Gwen shot toward the opposite side of the room, landing gracefully on a broken column. MJ, less acrobatic but just as quick-witted, rolled behind cover, preparing for the next strike.
Morlun's crimson gaze snapped toward Nova. He tilted his head slightly. "Interesting."
Then he lunged.
Nova braced himself, drawing in all available energy, his circuitry glowing like a miniature sun. He met Morlun's attack head-on, locking arms with the predator. The impact sent shockwaves through the ruined ballroom, the floor beneath them cratering from the force.
Peter and Gwen took their chance.
"Now!"
Peter shot a web at Morlun's legs, pulling with all his strength. Gwen followed up, webbing his arm, yanking in the opposite direction. For a split second, Morlun was caught off guard—his balance disrupted.
Nova seized the moment.
Electricity roared through his form as he channeled every ounce of energy he had into Morlun. The villain's body convulsed as arcs of green lightning surged through him, his form trembling violently.
Morlun let out a snarl of pain—but didn't go down.
Instead, he ripped through the webs restraining him, swinging wildly. Peter barely dodged in time, flipping away as Morlun's claws carved through solid concrete like butter. Gwen recoiled, landing beside MJ.
Nova clenched his teeth. "Not enough."
Morlun's body smoked slightly, his breath ragged. He glared at Nova. "You're proving to be quite the nuisance."
Nova steadied himself. "You haven't seen anything yet."
Nova didn't wait for Morlun to make the first move. The energy in his body surged, crackling through his circuits as he lunged forward, fists glowing with raw power. He swung hard, aiming straight for Morlun's head, but the predator was fast—inhumanly so. He tilted his head at the last moment, avoiding the strike with eerie precision before retaliating with a brutal backhand.
Nova barely managed to block, his armored forearm absorbing the hit, but the sheer force still sent him skidding backward. The moment his feet touched solid ground, he twisted his body and launched twin energy cables from his back. They shot toward Morlun like whips, crackling with green electricity.
Morlun moved to dodge, but Peter, Gwen, and MJ were already on him.
Peter struck first, flipping through the air and slamming both feet into Morlun's back, using every ounce of his enhanced strength. Morlun barely stumbled, but the attack threw him off balance just enough for Gwen to capitalize. She webbed his arm and yanked, keeping him from regaining his footing.
MJ followed up immediately, sliding low and sweeping his legs with a precise, acrobatic kick.
Morlun recovered fast, slashing at the web restraining him and twisting mid-air to avoid hitting the ground. But the moment he landed, Nova's energy cables snapped around his torso.
With a grunt, Nova channeled every ounce of power he could muster into the cables. Green lightning surged into Morlun's body, the air crackling with raw energy as the predator's muscles spasmed under the sudden overload.
Morlun snarled, his crimson eyes narrowing as he tore free, his movements filled with a new sense of irritation. He barely looked winded.
Then, for the first time since the battle began, he spoke directly to Nova.
"Earlier, you had some strength," he mused, his gaze assessing. "Your body was tougher, your power greater, but it was still flesh—still human." He tilted his head slightly, his expression unreadable. "But this form… this new transformation… all I see is energy. Interesting."
Nova's eyes narrowed. "Yeah? Keep talking—I'll make sure you feel it, too."
Morlun smirked. Then he moved.
This time, his speed was unreal. He vanished from sight, reappearing behind Nova in a blink. Before Nova could react, a crushing blow slammed into his side, sending him flying. He barely managed to reorient himself before smashing through a ruined pillar.
But Peter, Gwen, and MJ didn't give Morlun a chance to follow up.
Peter shot forward, fists flying as he unleashed a rapid series of punches. Morlun dodged effortlessly, weaving through the blows before catching Peter by the wrist and slamming him into the ground.
Gwen was already in motion, swinging in from above, her leg extended for a flying kick. Morlun let go of Peter at the last second and snatched her out of the air, his grip crushing. She let out a pained gasp, but before he could throw her, MJ landed a vicious strike to his ribs.
Morlun barely flinched, but the distraction was enough for Gwen to slip free, flipping backward and landing in a crouch.
Nova recovered, wiping dust off his armored frame. His mind raced—Morlun had definitely noticed the difference between this form and his previous state. His human fusion had given him raw strength, but now, as Feedback, his power was more specialized. He had incredible energy manipulation, but physically? Morlun still had the edge.
They needed to end this fast.
Morlun turned to Nova again, amusement flickering in his crimson gaze. "Come now. Show me what else you can do."
Nova exhaled, his circuitry glowing brighter.
"You asked for it."
