Nova's circuits pulsed with raw energy as he squared his stance. Morlun was relentless, faster and stronger than any of them, but he wasn't invincible. They had to finish this fight before it dragged on any longer.

Morlun smirked, his crimson eyes gleaming with predatory amusement. "Come now, is that all? I expected more."

Nova exhaled sharply. "You want more? Fine."

His energy surged, crackling around his form like a living storm. With a burst of speed, he shot forward, his movements faster than before. He feinted left, then twisted mid-air, slamming a charged fist toward Morlun's face. The Inheritor reacted instantly, blocking with a single arm—but this time, Nova's power surged on contact. A shockwave erupted from the point of impact, forcing Morlun back a few steps.

Gwen and Peter wasted no time.

Peter webbed Morlun's legs, yanking with all his strength. At the same time, Gwen swung in from above, delivering a devastating axe kick to his shoulder. The force drove Morlun down slightly, his feet digging into the ground.

MJ followed up, using her agility to slide beneath him and web his arm mid-motion, restricting his movement.

For the first time, Morlun actually looked mildly annoyed.

"You vermin are persistent," he growled, flexing his muscles to break free.

"Yeah?" Peter grinned. "We get that a lot."

But as Morlun strained against their combined efforts, Nova's eyes flashed with realization. Overloading him wouldn't work—but absorbing him?

That was different.

His transformation into Feedback had turned him into a living battery. He didn't just manipulate energy—he fed on it. And Morlun, for all his strength, was a creature of life energy.

Nova took a deep breath.

"Hold him," he commanded.

Gwen and Peter tightened their grips, MJ reinforcing the webs around Morlun's arms.

Nova extended his hands, the cables on his back unraveling like live wires.

Morlun's eyes narrowed. "What are you—"

The moment Nova made contact, the air screeched with energy.

Morlun's body jerked as his life force began draining away, the green energy coursing from him straight into Nova's circuits.

Morlun screamed.

His body convulsed violently, his once-perfect posture crumbling as his strength bled out of him. The aura of power surrounding him flickered and dimmed, his normally vibrant form turning pale, his muscles weakening.

"No," he snarled, trying to pull away—but Gwen and Peter held firm.

Nova gritted his teeth, the sheer magnitude of the energy overwhelming his senses. Morlun wasn't just a vampire—he was a wellspring of raw, primal life force. And Nova was drinking it. Suddenly his system notification was heard but Nova ignored for this time.

Peter's eyes widened. "Uh… what the hell is happening?"

Gwen, stunned, whispered, "He's draining him."

MJ took a wary step back. "Is that supposed to happen?"

Morlun's screams grew weaker. His body slumped, his strength crumbling as Feedback's circuitry pulsed brighter and brighter.

"You cannot—" Morlun coughed, his voice raspier now. He trembled, trying to summon his power, but it was slipping away, fading.

His crimson eyes dulled slightly, his regal stance gone.

Nova felt the energy settling inside him, raw and ancient. It wasn't just power—it was essence, existence itself.

Morlun's lips curled into a weak, spiteful smirk.

"You think this is a victory?" His voice was hoarse, but there was a sick confidence in it. "I am an Inheritor."

Nova narrowed his eyes, still absorbing.

"I will revive."

Peter's stomach twisted. "What?"

Morlun chuckled weakly, his body still failing him. "This? A minor inconvenience. You cannot kill me. No matter what you take from me—I will return."

Nova hesitated for the first time.

MJ frowned. "That… that doesn't sound good."

Gwen's face hardened. "If he revives, then we have to make sure he stays down."

Peter glanced at Nova. "Can you—"

Nova nodded, tightening his grip, absorbing more.

Morlun screamed again.

His body, once regal and imposing, was now gaunt, his once-pristine coat hanging loosely. His legs wobbled, his arms weak.

But even in his near-defeated state, he still smirked.

"This… will not be the end."

And then, with a final pull, Nova cut off the absorption.

Morlun collapsed to his knees.

Gwen and Peter let go, stepping back cautiously. MJ stayed on guard.

The once-mighty predator was now nothing more than a husk of his former self, his breath shallow, his skin pale.

Nova exhaled slowly, his body still humming with stolen energy.

Morlun, barely able to lift his head, managed a weak, taunting whisper.

"…See you soon."

And then, his body crumbled.

A lifeless shell remained.

Silence filled the ruined ballroom.

Peter ran a hand through his hair, exhaling sharply. "Holy shit."

MJ swallowed. "Is… is he really dead?"

Nova stared at the remains, his circuits dimming.

"…For now."

Gwen crossed her arms. "Then we make sure he stays dead."

They all stared at the spot where Morlun once stood, their relief tinged with unease.

Because deep down, they knew—this wasn't truly over.

Not yet.

-------

The battle with Morlun had left them shaken but victorious. The ruined ballroom was behind them, yet the weight of what had just happened still clung to their bodies like an unshakable exhaustion. Every bruise, every aching muscle served as a reminder of just how close they'd come to losing.

After Nova ensured the immediate danger had passed, they made their way to a quiet meeting spot—a rooftop overlooking the city. It was a familiar place, one they had used before for private conversations away from prying eyes. The cool night breeze carried the distant sounds of traffic, a stark contrast to the chaos they had just endured.

Waiting for them were Harry and Liz, Peter and Michelle, Ned and Betty, and lastly, Felicia, who immediately ran to MJ and hugged her tightly.

The moment they landed, Gwen and MJ exhaled in relief, the tension easing from their shoulders as they saw their friends safe and sound and MJ hugged back Felicia.

Harry was the first to step forward, his sharp eyes scanning them for injuries. His lips pressed into a thin line as he took in their battle-worn appearances. "You guys look like hell… and Gwen, MJ—you never told us your secret identities." His tone wasn't accusatory, but there was a definite edge of frustration.

Gwen and MJ exchanged a glance before shrugging in unison. "Well, it was supposed to be a secret," Gwen deadpanned.

Harry sighed, rubbing his temples. "Yeah, well, that ship has sailed."

Peter (the alternate Spider-Man) muttered, rubbing his sore shoulder. "Feel like hell, too. But hey, at least we're alive, right?"

Liz stepped beside Harry, her concern evident as she glanced between them. "We saw the news. A building roof collapsed. That was you guys, wasn't it?"

Nova exchanged a look with Gwen and MJ before nodding. "Yeah. It got… messy."

"Messy?" Michelle scoffed, adjusting her glasses. "Dude, the entire city block shook as you all destroyed that roof. That's more than 'messy.'"

Betty held her phone up, showing a live news feed. "They're already talking about an explosion, gas leaks, and even some wild conspiracy theories." She glanced up at them. "What actually happened?"

Spider-Man groaned, dropping onto a nearby crate. "Long story short? Big bad guy, way too strong, almost killed us, and then—" He gestured vaguely at Nova. "Mystery-Man here turned the tables."

Peter (original) raised an eyebrow. "Mystery-Man?"

Nova shot Peter a look. "Stop calling me that."

Michelle narrowed her eyes at Nova. "You all have some secret powers like Gwen and MJ?"

Nova kept his expression neutral. "Something like that. I'll tell you all about it later."

Spider-Man stretched his legs out, grimacing slightly. "Anyway, I don't wanna bore you with the details, but let's just say Morlun is not the kind of guy you want crashing your party. Dude was a straight-up monster."

Ned leaned forward. "But you won, right?"

"Won is a strong word," Gwen muttered. "We survived."

Peter shook his head, exasperated. "You're seriously reckless."

Nova smirked. "Look who's talking, Mr. 'I Sneak Into Dangerous Situations.'"

Liz nudged Harry, smirking slightly. "He's got a point."

Harry rolled his eyes but didn't argue.

Felicia, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, crossed her arms. "That guy… Morlun. He wasn't normal, was he?"

"No," MJ said, her voice unusually serious. "Not even close."

Felicia frowned, her usual playful demeanor absent. "I've seen some bad guys, but the look in your eyes? That was fear."

Gwen let out a shaky breath. "Because for a second there… I was afraid." She hesitated before adding, "We all were."

A heavy silence settled over the group, the weight of their near-death experience sinking in.

Michelle sighed, breaking the tension. "Well, at least you're not dead. Yet."

"Gee, thanks," Spider-Man said, rolling his eyes.

"But seriously," Betty chimed in, "what happens now?"

"For now?" Nova exhaled. "We regroup. Rest. And figure out where we go from here."

Liz finally turned to Spider-Man, studying him for a moment before asking bluntly, "Who are you?"

With little hesitation, Spider-Man spoke, "I'm Spider-Man. From a parallel timeline."

Michelle narrowed her eyes. "Parallel timeline?"

Nova exhaled, rubbing his temples. "Let's discuss all this next time. For now, he's crashing at my place."

Spider-Man blinked. "Wait, I am?"

Nova gave him a flat look. "You don't exactly have a place to go."

Spider-Man opened his mouth, then closed it, realizing Nova had a point. "Huh. Didn't think that far ahead."

Gwen snorted. "Why am I not surprised?"

"Hey!"

Betty giggled. "At least you're not sleeping on a rooftop."

With the immediate concerns settled, they said their goodbyes, exhaustion finally catching up to them.

As Nova and Spider-Man headed toward Nova's apartment, Spider-Man chuckled. "So, just to be clear—I'm an interdimensional homeless guy now?"

Nova sighed. "Just shut up and walk, Mystery-Man."

Spider-Man grinned. "Oh, so the name sticks?"

Nova groaned. "I regret everything."
