The warm smell of coffee and freshly baked pastries filled the air as Isla moved behind the brown counter serving the customers along with her other co-workers. Today was such a busy day and she had to beg Margaret, the lady who had helped when she got to the city to watch over Kai while she worked. She was currently pouring a cup of steaming black coffee for a customer.
This little cafe where she worked was like a safe haven where she could relax and think about the good things about her life in the past. Serving customers in the cafe reminded her of how she used to help Mira provide herbs for tea.
She readjusted her apron just as the doorbell chimed indicating that another customer had entered. Isla was too busy wiping off the coffee stain on the counter to notice the customer come closer.
