The village was surprisingly quiet as though no one lived in it. The houses were small with only a door and a window which were both made of wood. The silence made Isla's skin prickle.
"Why's there no one here?" She asked, glancing over her shoulder to look at Zade before turning to her front.
"They're people around," he replied. "They're just inside their houses"
Isla walked ahead of zade,her sandals crunching the dried up leaves littered on the dusty road as they walked past the houses. Up close,she noticed that the house was built with a clay like material. It was her first time seeing something like that. The air smelt damp even though it looked like not a single rain had fallen in days.
Isla had expected them to stop in front of one of the houses but they kept on going towards the lonely path.
