Aurelia was on the verge of a mental breakdown, it took all her power to hold back her tears as her father insulted both her and the 4th Legion.
Her father never liked her, no to say he didn't like her was an understatement, he detested the fact that she was alive.
'I tried so hard to prove myself...' Her gaze shifted to Cedric's unyielding form, he was the only one who was truly on her side, even Grahm was following her so that he may gain glory.
And now Father had offered Cedric something many would not dare refuse, after all, King never asked questions, he gave orders.
He gave orders to Cedric, something that in her mind was beyond stupid.
An assassination attempt on his favored children merely gave the old man an excuse to kill her.
She watched Cedric, clearly deep in thought. Fortunately for her, her worries about Cedric abandoning her were unfounded.
Cedric stood by her once again.
Instead of joining the legion, he threatened the king and Royal Guards. Something that she did not wish to happen, however, she was thrilled her hero protected her from execution.
Seeing him unleash so much fury scared her, but it was focused on her defense, she couldn't help but revel at the fact he would slaughter everyone around him to keep her safe.
Aurelia never had someone care so much for her.
Not only did he threaten, she witnessed some guards bursting into holy flame, and others suffocating, and yet she was unaffected.
Was it because she was a Christian now, or perhaps Cedric saw her as an ally?
She looked at Cedric, her eyes full of hope and pure love, unlike previous times she felt no lust she felt love, pure as fresh snow.
"Silence, you Infidels! You dare raise a blade against the First Star once again. Forgiveness is a resource only God has in abundance. You are the king of a Godless nation. You speak of treachery, and yet you are a traitor in the eyes of God. I refuse to join your legion of Infidels."
Cedric's voice stunned the guards who approached them.
"Aurelia, rise. You will not kneel before Infidels anymore!" Cedric ordered and she would obey.
It was clear, that the Royals did not care about her, they shunned her all her life and now they threatened to kill her.
'Everyone here is not even a fraction of a man Cedric is...' Aurelia couldn't help but feel proud.
She felt the aura, she felt his fury, Aurelia couldn't help but grow even more in admiration of the hero, a hero who made enemies of the entire kingdom just for her.
'Is this how princesses of fairy tales feel...' Aurelia couldn't help but think.
'I vow, I will stand by your side no matter what. My hero... my love.' She whispered in her mind.
Cedric made the entire Throne room shake with fear, threatening them openly and clearly.
Anyone daring to oppose The First Star will be purged.
Aurelia knew how seriously Cedric took his oaths, and this was not a joke to him. He would not hesitate to slaughter the entire kingdom in a way he did demons if they dared defy him.
"Let's go, Aurelia." Cedric beckoned her to follow him as they made their way out, however a shout came from behind them.
"You will not get away with this! You are now the enemy of Valar!" A fool of a father spoke like he had any authority, a statement Cedric was not deaf to.
"Enemy... now... huh... Is that so..." Cedric couldn't help it, He burst out laughing.
"Hahahahahahah!" His laughter echoed through the silent Throne room.
King shrunk back, clearly not expecting the man to react how he did.
"Infidel, You should be careful when making empty threats. Lest they come back to bite you." Cedric stared at the King, clearly ready to end the man's life.
"Or are you so desperate to look powerful in front of your subjects? Know that before God no mortal king holds authority." Cedric's tone switched from cold fury to one that conveyed his zeal.
Despite the king's attempts at holding onto his pride, he was not able to hold his calm.
"Remember, Infidel. It's because of The First Star that you live, however, if you test me again. I will cleanse the world of you and your Infidel family."
"Aurelia had embraced one true God, and as such she had proven to be more worthy of the throne than you in every conceivable way," Cedric spoke with a hint of respect for the young princess.
Respect that Aurelia was not used to getting.
"I warn you, once more. Act against me or the First Star and you will learn why Infidels should fear God." With those words, Cedric made his way out closely tailed by Aurelia.
The lines of Guards had collapsed under the weight of [Divine Zeal].
Piles of ashes littered both sides, clearly showcasing the demise of those who dared worship demons.
Aurelia couldn't help but cling to Cedric's arm as they walked out of the palace, 'Princess appearance be damned, I'm sticking to my hero!'
"What's wrong, Aurelia? There is no need to be afraid I won't allow them to touch you." Cedric looked at the girl clinging to his arm.
"Nothing! You saved me again so I feel a need to stick close!" Aurelia responded bluntly.
Cedric sighed at the antics, she had deserved some leniency after everything. However, he was sure that a fool of a king would attempt to kill her while she was in his reach.
'Infidels are fools after all.'
"Your Archangel Guards will arrive shortly, then you can return to your duties."
"I don't think King will allow me to return to my usual way of life..." Aurelia sighed solemnly.
"Oh he doesn't have a choice, just do what you want. His authority means nothing." Cedric placed his hand on Aurelia's head.
"If you say so... But I still want to cling to you for a moment!" Aurelia demanded.
"Sure, for a moment." He had to concede, that if anyone had deserved mercy it was her.
