"Father is eating as we speak." she said.
"Wonderful, I knew you would be able to do it." her mother replied in relief.
"What is the matter? Something is troubling you." her mother noticed.
"This is unbelievable, that man is wretched, he and his entire family." Brea seethed.
"I do not understand why this upsets you so much as well?" her mother asked confused.
"Because if there is any family that bears the name Rivethans which is superior it is our family. That man is nothing but a bastard!"
Brea's mother gasped hearing her daughter's harsh words.
"Brea, watch your tone, you are not in any place to say such a thing!" her mother chided.
"As you wish mother, however, you know it is the truth, they deprived us of the home and title that rightly belongs to us!" she insisted.
"You act as if your grandfather's second manor is not comfortable enough, or even much better than that deteriorating manor." her mother replied.
"It is not the same mother, this is the family home, this is nothing but a substitute."
"Oh you and your father are exactly the same, you know what, I am going to the market." her mother said taking her leave, she felt a headache coming on.
Brea scoffed infuriated, this injustice would not stand, and she would make sure of it.
...
"Father, I have returned, have you finished your meal yet?" Brea asked, a bright smile plastered on her face.
"Not yet, I have to finish this chicken, have you arranged the carriage for me?" he asked.
"I have, I just returned from the stables." she smiled.
"What is it my dear, you have a conflicting look in your eyes." he observed.
"Oh father, I do not know if now is the best time to express my thoughts." she sighed, she knew just how to get her father's undivided attention.
"What do you mean my girl? Come sit, sit, tell me what are your thoughts?" Endrick asked concerned, he beckoned her to come sit by him.
"Oh father, I do not want to trouble you more than you already are." she replied sitting on the couch beside him.
"Oh hush, tell me what is on your mind." he replied.
"Well father, considering how things unfolded sadly, we still have to find a bit of happiness because you finally received the title of viscount which rightly belongs to you." she began, Endrick nodded in agreement.
"So, considering that you are now viscount instead of a mere lord, does that mean that your agreement with Lord Endron to espouse me to his son Lord Easton still stand?" she asked.
Endrick's eyes opened wide in realization that his daughter's words were full of wisdom.
"You know what my dear, you make a fair point, even though things did not go as I planned, I did gain my title back..." he explained as she nodded.
"However, I have a feeling that after today's unfortunate series of events, I believe Lord Endron would not wish for his son to be associated with our family." he sighed sadly.
Brea on the other hand had a quaint smile present on her face.
"You do not seemed saddened by this news my girl." Endron said surprised.
"Oh, make do not be mistaken father, although I do feel some form of worry and sadness that Lord Easton and I may not be espoused any longer, I feel some form of relief." Brea said.
"How do you mean my girl?" Endrick asked confused, he certainly was not understanding his daughter at this moment.
"Father, I am truly disappointed, truly, Lord Easton is a good man, he is faithful and one of the crown prince's closets confidant, he would have made a fine choice for a husband but—" she paused.
"But what?"
"But what others see as a disappointment, I see it as an opportunity." she said.
"How so?" he asked.
"Well father, if his royal highness is so bent on marrying from the Rivethans family, who says that the maiden in question has to be Angelica Rivethans?" Brea asked, the cogwheels in her father's head turning at her words.
"Is there a way that you could convince his majesty to allow his son marry into the better Rivethans family?" Angelica asked.
"I do not know my girl, I do not know, but I agree with your view, if anyone deserves to be in law to the king, it should be us, not him!" Endrick exclaimed.
"Exactly father, aiming for the position of a lord's wife was nice while it lasted, but now I want to the the crown princess, the future queen of Calixas." Brea smiled balefully.
"Will you grant me my wish father?" Brea asked sweetly.
"Of course I will my dear girl, you know I will give you anything and everything you want, so as long as it is within my ability to do such for you." Endrick replied reciprocating her smile.
"Lovely, I cannot wait to hear the news you will bring me." she smiled standing up.
"I cannot make any promises my lovely girl, but if there is any one that can tell me if this is possible, it would be Lord Endron." he said. Brea simply nodded.
"It is no worry my dear father, just take things one step at a time." she responded as she carried the tray away and brought a bowl of water for him to wash his hands in.
"I will heed to your advice my lovely Brea." Endrick replied, he finished washing his hands and stood to his feet.
"I will return soon, tell your mother to prepare me a fine duck roast for dinner, we must celebrate this victory even though it is a partial one." he smiled.
"Alright father, I will." Brea replied as he walked out of the room and she remained there smiling.
"If you think you are going to the be future queen of Calixas, you are sorely mistaken." Brea said to herself. "We are the only true family of Rivethans, our family is better than yours, and I will make sure to prove it."
...
"Lord Endron, Lord Endron!" Endrick called while he hastily jumped out of his carriage.
He wasted no time as soon as he spotted Lord Endron from his carriage window, he knew he had to speak to him now or never again.
Lord Endron did not turn around, he knew who exactly was calling him, and he scoffed, he continued walking on as if he had not heard his name being called.
"Lord Endron!" Endrick called even more loudly as he ran quickly and caught up to the man right before he entered into the castle.
"Lord Endrick! What do you want? Did I not tell you explicitly that we would never meet again?" he asked clearly irritated.
"I know Lord Endron, however, you and I have some unfinished discussions, and may I remind you my title is viscount, so I can Viscount Endrick, not Lord." Endrick said proudly.
Endron simply scoffed, it was typical of fools to blow their own horn and Endrick was no exception.
Endron looked around, their presence was starting to draw attention from those around them. Endron could not risk gossip to arise from this.
"Follow me." he said sternly, Endrick nodded and followed behind him.
"What did you come and see me for?" Endrick asked as soon as they had entered a hall that was empty.
"I wish to know if our previous agreement still stands?" Endrick asked.
"What agreement?"
"The agreement that once I regain my title, my daughter will be espoused to your son." Endrick said.
"No." Endron simple replied.
"No what?" Endrick asked confused.
"No, your daughter will not be espoused to my son, the agreement no longer stands." Endron said definitely.
"And why not?" Endrick asked demandingly. "I have received my title, nothing else is needed."
"Even though you have regained your title as viscount, the little unexpected display this morning proves that there are just too many troubles surrounding your family." he responded.
"That is unfair, to judge my family based on that man!"
"No, it is not unfair, you both share the same last name, and I can see clearly now that there are many similarities between you both." Endron narrowed his eyes.
"To compare me to that swine is atrocious—" Endrick frowned. "However, I understand your judgement, in all honesty, I did not come here to speak about that matter alone."
"Oh really now?" Endron asked cautiously.
"Yes, the matter I am about to discuss with you is very dire and will benefit the kingdom." Endrick said.
"Go on."
"We both know that the crown prince's decision to marry the daughter of that bloody murderer is unacceptable."
"Her father is a murderer, so is she, the apple does not fall too far from the tree." Endrick said.
"Get to the point Lord Endrick, I do not have all day." Endrick felt like shouting to remind Endron he was no longer a lord but a viscount, nevertheless he held his peace, he had to take things one step at a time as Brea said.
