No one knows what goes on in peoples mind but as for Gloria, her mind was written all over her face as she was planning devilishly to win Jae Won over. What she does not know was, she might have a chance if Jae Won was straight but given the circumstances of Jae Won being into men. She does not stand a chance not even 0.0000001% chance.
Jae Won left to join the three guys upstairs, he didn't even pay attention when he entered the living room. As he was climbing the stairs he heard his name and he turned only to be met with the three guys sitting at the living room.
"I thought you guys were in the room" he asked with a little surprised drawn on his face. He walked slowly towards them expecting an answer. "The room was stuffy so we came down to play here instead" Akwasi responded cutting short the words about to come out off Vincent mouth.
Charles kept quiet as he watched Vincent behavior after he was cut off. Vincent drank the glass of water in front of him as if it was an alcohol with an usual behavior he couldn't quite placed his hand on it.
Jae Won got closer and saw Akwasi and Charles seated at the wooden coffee table focused on the game of chess so intensely. With pieces strategically placed, the board was set up between them.
Akwasi with a look of seriousness and concentration, he carefully thought about his next move. "What are you waiting for" Charles said as he leans back in the chair with his eyes fixed on the board as if he would be cheated the moment he shift his gaze from the board.
On the opposite side of the living room, Vincent sat on the couch with his eyes glued on the big tv screen. "What game is that? Jae Won asked as he went ahead to join him. Charles turned and stole a glance at them while he played his move.
"It's Mario Kart" Vincent replied, Jae Won moved a little closer to his side "can I play with you?" Vincent nodded in agreement as Jae Won joined him to play Mario Kart. He sat beside Vincent, controllers clutched in their hands. Vincent shouted with excitement as he takes the lead jolting Akwasi and Charles off their seat as anger drawn on their face. "You scared the hell out of me" Akwasi said as he went back to his chess. Jae Won grins planning his comeback.
As the chess game unfolds, Akwasi and Charles engage in a battle of wits, with each trying to outsmart the other. The air surrounding them was thick with tension which could be cut with knife. The tension between them drew the attention of Vincent and Jae Won "why are you both so quiet? I hope you don't turn and murder each other" Vincent said as he laughed at his own joke.
They didn't spare them a glance focusing on the board as if their life depended on it. "This is getting serious" Jae Won said in Korean. They turned their back to their own game.
After a while on their game,Jae Won and Vincent's Mario Kart game was a high energy affair, their voices echoes in the livin room. With laughter, shouts and friends trash talking to each other which filled the air. They are completely absorbed in the virtual world, their faces glow with excitement.
The two pairs were engrossed in their own game, each lost in their own world of strategy and competition but on the other hand, Charles steal a glance at Jae Won whenever he gets. Yet, despite the different games, they were all united by the joy of friendly competition and the feeling of sharing a fun evening together.
They played for a while and when both pairs had had enough of the game, they ended it. "I'm gonna go learn Korean with Jae Won, so good night all of you" Vincent said as he put his arm around Jae Won's neck pushing him along with him.
Charles who couldn't have a one on one talk with Jae Won felt like crying his heart out but he controlled himself. The main reason why he had to do two shift to be able to attend this little party that partly doesn't concern him was mainly because of Jae Won.
Though he has been chatting Jae Won but he hardly replies to his chat. So he wanted to use this opportunity to actually talk to him face to face but his plan went off the tracks. He was actually waiting to play the chess with him but Gloria had to pull him backwards to have a chat with him and now he has lost his chance to do that then Akwasi asked to join him instead.
Charles was pissed like hell but he maintained his anger and not pulling Jae Won off that cunning bitch. He became more pissed as he watched Vincent pulled Jae Won along with him.
"Then, let's go to our room and have some sleep" Akwasi said as he stood up and walked towards the stairs. "Will you go to work?" He asked as he waited for reply but for a while there was no response he turned only to see Charles zoned out with his mind at God knows where.
He walked towards him and shake him jolting Charles from his day dream "what were you thinking about?" Akwasi asked with worry on his face.
"It's nothing serious, just some stuffs" he responded as he walked pass Akwasi heading towards the stairs. "Okay" Akwasi said as he walked towards the stairs, the silence between them was so quiet that the sound of a pin can be heard if it was to fall on the ground right now.
They walked passed Vincent and Jae Won's room as sounds, talking and laughter which could be heard down from the living room. Charles looked more worried and Akwasi saw the look on Akwasi's face and couldn't help but think something was really wrong with him.
They finally got to their room, Akwasi entered the bathroom to shower as Charles was still lost in his thoughts. He couldn't help himself but wonder if Vincent likes Jae Won and he couldn't have the courage to ask 'what if he has no such intentions towards Jae Won and him asking will destroy the relationship he has built with Vincent this time because he might suspect he is into men and '.
Akwasi came from the fifteenth minutes shower, towel wrapped around his waist showing his well built muscles and defined features God has gifted him.
Akwasi stood there for a minutes and Charles didn't felt his presence still lost in his thought. Akwasi cleared his throat to pull him out of this world "what's wrong with you? You looked like you are suffering from an unrequited love".
Charles smiled as he finally came back to reality "it's jus…never mind" he said as he stood up to take his shower too but he was grabbed by the hand a soft voice melting his heart.
"Come on, you are suffering. Just tell me what's wrong even though if I can't help you at least sharing is one half job done. Or is it because we just met?" Akwasi asked as he let go of the hand he had grabbed.
"No no no it's not that, it's just" Charles sighed deeply as he went back to sit on the bed and looked directly into Akwasi's eyes looking for a sign of comfort within them. "It's just that I'm having a crush on someone, and I didn't think I could ever have such feelings ever again because I was in love with my friend" he said as Akwasi sat on the couch ready to listen to this story of his.
"So did you tell your feelings to your friend? I guess she is beautiful" Charles couldn't denied that part , in fact he is handsome and kind, that was the main reason Charles fell in love with him even though he tried not to act on that side of him.
Charles smiled at him not correcting him as his friend was a man actually, he continued his story. "I didn't even thought of crushing on this person but it happened. And now I can't even think of acting on it as I'm not sure if this person would actually like me back. And the fact that this person is really close to someone and it seems they have feelings for each other. I'm not quite sure but that's the feeling I'm getting" he said as he lowered his head like a scolded child.
"Why didn't you tell your friend you liked her?" Akwasi asked before he made a comment. "My friend was already in a relationship so i didn't even thought of confessing my feelings to my friend" Charles responded.
"We wouldn't know what someone feels about us unless we asked right. So my little advice is, you just have to say your feelings out in order to know the other person's feelings towards you. Then rejecting you after your confession is one way to finally let go of this feelings. But if you keep it to yourself, you will still hold on to this feeling you are not even sure if they will reciprocate even in this lifetime" he ended as he catch his breath.
"But what if you will lose the friendship you've built all this while because of your confession?" Charles asked.
