Chapter 35: Three Foxes
The morning after Raphael's confession was a strange mix of warmth and awkwardness.
Ines woke up feeling lighter than she had in a long time, but as soon as she turned her head and saw Raphael lying next to her, their intimacy settled in.
He was awake, his blue eyes watched her with something softer, gentler and mesmerising.
She remembered the previous night, and it hit her hard… heat rushed to her cheeks.
"Good morning," he murmured in a deep and rough from sleep voice.
Ines swallowed, suddenly feeling shy. "Morning."
A small smirk curled at Raphael's lips as he noticed how she was suddenly avoiding his gaze. "What? No smart remark? No sarcastic jab?"
She groaned, grabbing the blanket and pulling it over her face. "Shut up."
His chuckle was low, a little bit teasing. "Are you hiding from me? After everything we—"
"Don't say it!" she squeaked from under the blanket.
Raphael laughed, a genuine, carefree sound that made her stomach flip.
