Chapter 41: Sports Gala
Ines took a deep breath before dialing Nathan's number.
She had spent the morning going over her decision, making sure this was the right course of action.
She knew Nathan meant well, but Raphael was right—she didn't need his help, not in the way Nathan thought.
Raphael had the resources, the connections, and more importantly, the drive to see this through.
And if she was being honest, she didn't trust Nathan entirely.
The phone rang twice before Nathan answered.
"Ines," he said smoothly, like he had been expecting her call. "Miss me already?"
She rolled her eyes. "We need to talk. Can we meet?"
There was a brief pause, then a chuckle. "Straight to the point, huh? Alright, I'm at the café we met at last time."
"I'll be there in ten," she said before hanging up.
When she arrived, Nathan was already waiting at their usual table, a smug expression on his face.
