Chapter 42: Turning The Gables
Raphael and Ines were standing side by side, with empty faces as Diego took the stage.
The entire room was silent, waiting for his announcement.
Camila was off to the side, a smirk covered her lips.
"As we all gathered here, I would like to announce something very important," Diego said, smoothly and controlled.
"This year's biggest charity initiative will be led by none other than my beloved daughter, Ines."
Gasps rippled through the crowd, followed by polite applause.
Ines, however, remained still, her jaw hardened.
Raphael leaned in slightly. "Did you know about this?"
"Of course not," she muttered through clenched teeth.
Diego continued, "Ines has always had a heart for the people. So, in partnership with some of our finest investors, we'll be launching a new healthcare initiative, ensuring affordable access to medical care for everyone."
Camila clapped a little too enthusiastically.
