Sorayah's scream tore through the air as she scrambled up from the ground, her body trembling. She threw herself over Lily's corpse once more, cradling her in her arms despite the unbearable stench of decay. Tears streamed down her face, soaking into the bloodstained fabric of her dress.
"I'll bury her myself," she sobbed, her voice raw with desperation. "You've disrespected her enough… I won't let you desecrate her further. Please… just let me give her the last respect she deserves."
Liam's face darkened with irritation. He exhaled sharply, his patience wearing thin.
"You don't get to make demands here, maid," he spat, the last word laced with venom. "I already gave them orders, and they will follow mine not yours."
Without warning, he unsheathed his sword with a sharp, menacing sound. The gathered servants gasped, some instinctively stepping back. A few maids clutched their skirts, their faces paling at the sight of the gleaming blade.
