Sorayah swallowed hard, her heart pounding violently against her ribs as her gaze landed on the corpse's hand. A bracelet encircled the wrist, one that looked eerily familiar.
Her breath caught in her throat.

"It's… it's Lily," she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Without thinking, she rushed forward, collapsing to her knees beside the lifeless body. The terrible stench of decay burned her nostrils, but she no longer cared. Tears blurred her vision as her trembling hands reached out, fingers brushing against the cold, stiff skin.
The gathered servants gasped, their faces a mixture of shock and horror. Some turned away, unable to bear the sight.
