Chapter 11 - Wayne Grisham's Birthday Party [I]

"That company is a scam. They determine success or failure based on appearance and don't care about skills at all. Don't you think there must be something wrong here?" Emily raised an eyebrow and asked.

Quinn sighed, worry evident in her voice, "If you think there's something wrong, then why did you go to dinner with Mr. Lindemann?"

Emily chuckled and said nonchalantly, "Otherwise how can I get evidence of their crimes?"

"Emily!" Quinn was a little angry and shouted, "Don't you worry about your own safety?"

Even a cornered dog would jump over the wall! If she provoked James Lindemann, she never knew what he would do.

"Don't be afraid, my dear. Am I not fine now?" Emily said with a smile.

"Damn it, girl. Uou're still in the mood to joke?" After saying so much, it seems like he hasn't gotten to the point yet. "Now that this post is getting heated, have the people from the Aurora Media given you any trouble?"

"Are you still afraid of them? I, your darling friend, am not a pushover! Let them come at me!" Emily rolled her eyes fearlessly.

"A cornered dog will do anything to survive. You'd better be careful with those people," Quinn told her.

"Don't worry, he doesn't have the time to pay attention to me now! He's probably busy cleaning up his own mess!" Emily said with a laugh. But she could tell that Quinn was worried about her. "I understand it's always good for me to be careful."

At this time, a phone call came in, it was Sebastian. Emily said some few things to Quinn and hung up her call. She answered the call from Sebastian, who was already at the main entrance of her block.

She responded casually and said she would come out right away.

After hanging up the phone, she adjusted her dress, took her bag, and went out in her high heels.

At the entrance of the building, there was a brand new bright blue Land Rover, which was very eye-catching and formed a sharp contrast with the colors of the surrounding parked vehicles.

When Sebastian saw her coming out of the building, he opened the car door and got out, waving at her, "Hey, Emily."

She looked over in the direction of the sound.

The guy was wearing a white suit and his hair was neatly styled. At first glance, he looked like a decent human being.

When Sebastian saw her, his eyes lit up and he couldn't help but look her up and down.

Emily turned around in a circle and said openly, "Is it good for the banquet?"

"It suits you perfectly, Emily. You always look good in anything you wear." Sebastian said with a somewhat exaggerated expression.

Emily sneered in her heart. What a flatterer he was? No wonder he even fooled his own father-in-law.

"Your hair is really unique. It suits your status perfectly!" Emily teased him deliberately.

Sebastian subconsciously raised his hand and touched his hair. The embarrassment on his face flashed away, and he smiled and said, "Please, I'm just learning to be a man."

Emily didn't waste any more time talking to him, she walked around the front of the car and got straight into the passenger seat and sat down.

Sebastian also quickly got in the car and started the engine while saying, "What do you think of this car? Wayne just bought it and asked me to drive it here to pick you up."

She looked around and said indifferently, "It's OK."

Wasn't it just an old model Land Rover? What's there to show off? It was okay to fool other girls, but she, Emily, was not that easy to be fooled.

She wouldn't even look at this kind of car in public.

What did they think of her? She was a future celebrity for crying out loud. How could a mere Land Rover be her cup of tea?

Sebastian laughed and said, "Wayne really cares about you, Emily. Do you know you are the first girl to sit in this car?"

Emily curled her lips to show her disdain and teased, "Sebastian, you keep bringing up his name. If others don't know, they would think you two are something.."

"You joke a lot, Emily." Sebastian said in a serious tone.

Emily smiled, ignored him, and lowered her head to play with her phone.

When the car was halfway through the journey, Sebastian asked casually, "By the way, Emily, I saw the Instagram post you made. What's going on between you and the CEO of Aurora Media?"

Emily lowered her head and continued playing with her phone, and responded nonchalantly, "Don't tell me you don't know he wanted. You already know, don't you?"

You're asking even though you already know the answer! Are you deliberately trying to make fun of me?

Seeing that she was a little angry, Sebastian quickly said, "No, don't get me wrong, I'm just concerned about you as a friend."

Emily rolled her eyes at him.

"Wayne was very angry about this matter, you know. He said that he will definitely teach Lindemann a lesson and help you vent your anger. So, you don't need to worry. Wayne will protect you from him in the future. I can guarantee you that no one will dare to bully you from now on." Sebastian continued.

"Okay then!" She replied casually. Anyway, these ones were not good people either. So let them fight each other! It's good to have some peace and quiet!

Twenty minutes later, the car slowly stopped in front of the Wonderland Hotel and Bar.

Wayne Grisham was already waiting at the door. He pretended to be a gentleman and opened the car door for Emily. He smiled and said, "Hello, Emily, it's nice to meet you again."

As he spoke, he extended a hand toward her.

Emily nodded and walked past him coolly, ignoring his hand which was hanging in the air.

Wayne smiled, not angrily, took back his hand, led the way, and was even quite enthusiastic, "Emily, please come this way, be careful of the steps."

She still ignored him, always feeling that Wayne was a very gloomy person.

A lot of people had gathered in the banquet hall on the second floor, most of them were pretty young girls, and there were even a few young TV hosts.

The venue was decorated in a grand and luxurious manner, which was indeed in line with Wayne's dandy character.

Along the way, many young girls came up to Wayne and took the initiative to say hello and get close to him.

From their conversation, Emily learned that today was Wayne's 22nd birthday.

This guy was wearing a white suit, holding a red wine glass, and talking eloquently. He really thought of himself as a successful person in the upper class.

Emily sneered and thought, this guy was quite attractive.

In order to avoid becoming an imaginary enemy of some women, she went somewhere else with her glass of wine.

The entire dinner was served in buffet style. The wide variety of food on the long dining table made people's appetites grow.

She picked up a piece of cake and sat in a corner, tasting it while observing the people passing by.

Wasn't the girl standing next to Sebastian, Rosalie Wright? This guy is taking her around to greet others!

Sebastian really had some communication skills. He took down Rosalie so easily. When her father was the director of the local health department.

Emily really didn't know what this girl Rosalie saw in Sebastian!

In her memory of the next few years, she knew clearly everything that happened between them.

Since she had been given a new life, she couldn't watch Rosalie's tragedy unfold.

Sebastian, you're next!
