Chapter 73 - Mechanical Swarm

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

I examined the forest ahead, sensing something different about these woods at the edge of Australia's inland. Unlike the lifeless forests I had encountered in the Far East, something lay buried here.

Was it a life form? No, that didn't seem right.

Was it a machine created by humans? That didn't seem accurate either.

What were they? I had never sensed a presence like this before.

Not knowing whether they were hostile or friendly, I decided to bypass the forest after careful consideration. Since their nature wasn't clear, it would be best not to disturb them.

What if they were some form of life I had never encountered? Since humans had reshaped plants, it was possible they had also reshaped animals. My current weight was too massive—stepping through their territory could harm too many lives. Plants were resilient; even shattered by shockwaves, they could recover. But animals were fragile. Better not to disturb them.

With this thought, I changed direction, aiming to find a barren path along the edge of the mountain range.

I was still, at heart, a considerate being.

I walked along the base of the mountains, preparing to leave the forested area. Just as I was about to take another step, the forest began to move.

Since I wouldn't enter their domain, they had decided to come to me.

A shame. I had hoped they weren't enemies.

I turned toward the mountains where I'd be less likely to harm other life forms. But as I turned, the forest behind me began to stir.

"They're activating," announced the senior technician, eyes fixed on thermal imagery showing countless heat signatures emerging from beneath the forest floor.

"How many?" asked the commander.

"Initial count shows 8,000 units in the first wave, but readings indicate full activation throughout the region."

On the screens, dark figures burst from the soil, sprinting toward Godzilla at incredible speed. The distance was only 400 meters—they would reach the target in seconds.

"Operation Swarm is now live," the commander announced over the comm system. "All units, proceed with Phase One."

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

"Zi-zi-zi-zi—"

Unfortunately for them, a laser beam manifested from my tail.

The tip of my tail, facing away from the forest, emitted a scorching beam that swept across the forest floor. Tall trees were sliced in half by the high-intensity light, and those small things running toward me were instantly reduced to charcoal.

Trees fell by the thousands. Within a kilometer radius from my tail, everything over one meter in height was severed by the powerful beam. In moments, tens of thousands of giant trees crashed to the ground with thunderous noise, raising a thick cloud of debris.

The leaves remained green where they fell—except for the severed parts. This was my consideration for the forest. I chose the precision of lasers rather than more destructive breath to preserve the roots. The forest was not dead yet.

But neither were those things completely eliminated.

Whoosh. Whoosh.

A single tail beam did not kill them all. As I initiated my defense, throughout the entire forest and beyond, countless entities began to move simultaneously. In the sky, underground, on the mountains—several dozen different types activated at once, all converging on my position.

"Didi-didi-didi-didi!!!" Like ostriches.

"Whoosh... Hoo." Like hawks.

"Bang-bang-bang-bang-bang..." Like elephants.

"Kak-kak-kak-kak-kak..." And most of all, like humans.

Were these robots?

I turned my head to observe them more carefully.

No, not just robots—they were something more. I could see that these creatures had muscles attached to them, similar to ordinary living beings. But simultaneously, they possessed mechanical skeletons. Many limbs appeared designed for construction or transport.

They were robots, but not entirely robots.

By the thousands, tens of thousands, millions—such things surged from all directions. They carried no firearms, no missiles. They simply rushed toward me, unarmed.

What were they trying to accomplish?

Even I, witnessing this peculiar scene, was perplexed. Were these "animals" attempting to attack me? What abilities could they possibly possess to harm a being of my magnitude?

If that was all, there shouldn't be any danger in letting them approach.

Still, I had no intention of allowing them near. My dorsal fins emitted laser beams, sweeping the sky behind me, while my tail beam struck the machines emerging from the forest, eliminating waves of incoming enemies.

On the mountains before me, countless robots rushed downward, while flying machines attempted to approach from above. I decided to use my breath.

For the first time in Australia, I demonstrated the full power of my atomic breath. Aiming at a mountain peak crowded with descending machines, I unleashed plasma several times stronger than before. A hot fireball engulfed the entire mountaintop, followed by a powerful shockwave that surged in all directions, obliterating all airborne machines attempting to approach.

"Thermal readings off the scale!" shouted an analyst, shielding his eyes from the brightness of the monitor.

"Mountain peak alpha-seven completely destroyed," reported another. "All units in that sector eliminated."

The commander's face remained impassive as he studied the tactical display. "Continue deployment. We need more data."

On secondary monitors, green text scrolled continuously: [Analysis progress of Godzilla's behavior logic: 1%...] [Analysis progress: 2%...] [Analysis progress: 3%...]

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

Was that all they had?

An entire mountain of machines completely annihilated by a single breath, offering no resistance. But what I had destroyed was only one concentration. From various directions—behind me, to my left and right, and from three different vectors in the sky—countless more machines approached.

My dorsal fin beams continuously changed direction, sweeping away the aerial units attempting to get close. My tail dragged across the ground, from left to right then right to left, eliminating all machines approaching from behind.

My breath cut through the air like a divine judgment, creating walls of flame that enveloped entire mountain peaks. One after another, these barriers of fire cut off the machines' advance routes. The power of my tail beam intensified, annihilating enemies across an even larger area.

The drones in the sky never had a chance to fall—they were completely vaporized by my impenetrable laser network before gravity could claim them.

Tens of thousands of machines wiped out entirely by my power.

Standing before the reddened mountains, I must have resembled what humans would call a demon king in hell—a creature of unstoppable destruction.

After eliminating all approaching enemies, I continued my advance inland.

───「 Human POV 」───

In the command center, the tactical display updated with new information:

[Remaining construction robots in Australia – 126.78 million.]

[Analysis progress of Godzilla's behavior logic: 4%.]

The commander allowed himself a small smile.

"Just as planned," he whispered. "Continue Phase One."
