Chapter 26 - Where did everyone go?

"Well! I found you!!'

Genta pointed to Kaiira who was crouching down, gently stroking a cat, her eyes not looking away from the cat, even though Genta's voice was quite loud.

"Why did you just leave? You were too fast for a girl to know anyway."

Genta's feet stepped closer to her, noticing how her attention was completely diverted by a lonely cat. He crouched down beside her, taking a closer look at her expression.

"Oh no... She really does look so beautiful up close."

Realizing that she had been stared at for quite a long time, Kaiira turned her head, her eyes looked withered gracefully, while her hair fluttered in the gentle wind at that time.

She returned her attention to the cat in front of her, petting it gently, leaving Genta who was still silent with a clear blush on his cheeks.

"Meow~"

Genta made a sound like that, Kaiira turned her head, her eyes narrowed instantly, before a soft smile spread across her lips, her hand raised to stroke Genta's head.

"Meow?"

Her voice was so soft, almost like it cleansed Genta's soul, the blush on his cheeks grew even more, spreading to his ears.

"Don't tell me this is... The charm of an innocent girl!!!"

"Oh my God, a reaction like that... I love it!!! It makes me want to exploit her even more."

Kaiira tilted her head, seeing Genta's reaction which was confusing for her, he was looking away, covering his mouth while muttering something that couldn't be heard.

Now he turned back, giving a small, bitter smile that was held back there, his hand raised to rub his neck with nervousness clearly visible there.

"U-umm.. so you really don't know where my friends are huh?"

Kaiira tilted her head again, seemingly even more confused about what he meant. Her hand rose again, this time pointing in the direction that would lead him to a dead end corner with a mirror that had been displayed before.

"Are you trying to tell me they're... there?"

Kaiira was silent, still not answering, she returned her attention to the cat in front of her, stroking it gently.

"Ahh... I see, you must have seen them gathered there last time, right?"

Kaiira glanced for a moment, then her eyes were drawn back to looking at the cat again, not really paying attention to anything Genta said.

"Huh... If only you didn't talk so little... You're definitely my type of girl"

Genta started to stand up, a smile spread across his lips softly, his hand then raised to wave, while his feet started to move to walk away.

"Then I'll go first, see you later Kaiira, I hope I can meet you again."

Now he walked wherever his feet took him in this school area, his mind was contemplating, constantly thinking about where all his friends had gone, his brain was spinning like a Ferris wheel, but there was only one thing he could think of. In the end there is only ignorance at the end.

He took a few deep breaths, then started walking to the toilet to calm down. His hand reached out, covered his palm with water, then washed it, rubbing it gently over the area of his face.

He stared straight, far away at his own reflection. A mirror, nothing special about it, but something stuck out in his heart, just screaming.

His hand reached out, stroking the smooth surface of the glass, he glanced down, starting to dismiss some of the doubts in his mind.

"Could they be there? Behind the mirror? Or is this just my hunch?"

He stepped out of the toilet door, then started walking, and noticed a swing not far away in the park near his school. He walked, just passing the school security guard, the school security guard bowed, allowing him to just go out.

He put his body down, just dropping it on the swing, his thoughts were in turmoil, his expression was flat, filled with a little loneliness there.

"If they really were behind the mirror... But why would they do that? Everyone knows that place would be meaningless."

He moved his legs, starting to push his body, giving momentum to the swing to swing gently.

"Maybe... If there is a condition... A condition that allows them to go there. It's possible, right?"

Something clicked in his head, he stomped his foot, stopping the swinging motion immediately.

"Maybe I'll ask someone who can help me."

He walked, re-entering his school. His steps were a little slow, watching the students who were starting to leave the classroom, marking the break time.

"think this is the right moment."

He walked to the teacher's room. When he got there, he stared, sweeping the room to realize the presence of someone, once he caught the figure he immediately closer."

"Ma'am, you are Kamada Elinson's homeroom teacher, right?

The teacher raised an eyebrow, then nodded slowly in response.

"Today he didn't come in, do you know why?"

The teacher put down his lunch, then she started to think, looking for the right words until she finally answered.

"Today he didn't come in, I don't know the reason, he was absent without explanation."

Genta nodded, maybe he felt that the answer was as he had expected. Then he looked back at the teacher much more seriously.

"Did... you see him last? And where is he?"

The teacher clicked her tongue a little, then with a little reluctance she answered, his tone a little odd with a joke that was clearly audible.

"I've been asked this question twice, aren't you guys tired of playing hide and seek?"

Genta gasped for a moment, then his eyes widened even more, his lips started to open, trying to say something.

"Who asked that?"

The teacher's hand rose to rub his chin, thinking about something.

"I think he's a pretty young man, you know, he's a bit manly, I call him that because his hair's a bit long."

Genta's eyes widened, he clearly probably knew who the person in question was.

"Um... Do you know where he is? Because he's not in my heart."

"No, I don't know, and I'm not the homeroom teacher who is responsible for him."

Genta sighed, his eyes slightly narrowed with annoyance embedded in his mind, his heart screaming slightly.

"But I can tell you something funny, because that young man became the topic of conversation among some teachers."

Genta raised one eyebrow, showing interest and curiosity at the teacher's words.

"What did he do wrong?"

"It wasn't a big mistake, but he brought an injured child to this school, it would take a bit of time to take him to the hospital, so he borrowed the health unit. Well... Because of that, the blanket in the infirmary became covered in mud, and he just disappeared."

Genta closed his eyes, silent for a moment with the silence that came suddenly without warning, the teacher raised one eyebrow, his finger flicked trying to provoke her awareness.

"You said... A child?"
