Everyone fell silent when he spoke again "Stop being selfish, and be a good sister and take it upon yourself to help Sarah arrange her wedding to Adam".
When I heard him, a strange chuckle crossed my lips. It was obvious that both my family and Adam hated me, and it showed all the time.
"Me? I won't do that, why would I stoop to humiliating myself like that?"
My father gave me a cold look, while Sarah smiled. It was obvious that she was enjoying this moment.
"You disappoint me. You don't know how to control your emotions. But you force me to reconsider hiring you in my company. I'm sure no one would accept a girl with a bad reference from me."
I was dumbfounded at his words, he was a powerful man and could put me out of a job for life.
But at that, I couldn't help but laugh awkwardly "Your punishment is to fire me? Isn't there a clause for that?" I added.
"Maybe. Unless you sign a letter of resignation, what will you do? Put aside your jealousy of Sarah and make this family the best," he added, as if his words were the only ones.
How could the world punish me with this? I remained silent, crossing my arms. Meanwhile, my father smiled.
"I see you've thought about it," he said.
"You could start by returning the ring Adam gave you. It's very expensive, I don't think you'll need it, now that you've been replaced by someone better" announced Adeline.
I looked at the woman and smiled sarcastically "You're right, I don't want something I'm not entitled to".
"Oh, sis, you might as well help me pick out my dress and flowers, this will be so much fun!" announced Sarah to happy applause.
I looked at Sarah clenching my fists under the table. I wanted to curse that girl with every word I knew, but her voice came again.
"Oh, yes, you would also help me with my wedding night garter belt. It will be so sexy when Adam rips it off my thigh with his mouth," said Sarah.
His words made my blood boil, but before I could say anything, my father got a call. "I have to go. You three take care of my little Sarah's wedding."
After that, he just kissed Sarah on the head and left the office.
I quickly got up from the table and ran after my father "Father! Just a moment!"
He heard me and stopped, turning to me "What do you want? I'll be late."

I wanted to respond, but my father's assistant approached him "Mr. Delawere, they are waiting for you upstairs".
My father looked at me and waved his hand "Go to your mother and sister, do your job".
"They are not my mother and sister. And from today you are not my father!" I shouted turning to the exit.
I hated this damn house, this family. That bastard Adam, those idiots only knew how to humiliate and despise me.
I vowed I would take revenge on them all.
Without thinking, I jumped into a cab and headed for the party room. Luckily, today they were celebrating having reached the company's goals.
Without hesitation, I made my way to the bar and started drinking glass after glass.
I wanted to burn off my misfortunes with alcohol. I needed to feel free of it all.
My mind was beginning to cloud over when suddenly a coworker sat down next to me.
"Gosh, you look terrible," said Carmine, who was also one of my friends inside and outside the company.
"You think so?" I said, refilling my glass again.
"Fuck, how could that bastard do that to you? He got engaged to your sister after cheating on you?" said Carmine with disappointment.
I looked at her and let out a groan. It was obvious that the whole company knew what had happened.
"Apparently my humiliation didn't end there," I said with a wry smile.
"What are you talking about?" she asked.
"My father ordered me to organize the wedding of those bastards. She's having his baby and, apparently, I was always a business" I said sipping my drink in one gulp.
"Jeez, Sarah's a slut. Karma will come to her at some point. Don't blame yourself for this" she said, stroking my back with a soft smile on her lips.
"You think so?" she spat mockingly.
The world couldn't turn against Adam, he always got everything.
"Yes, of course. Don't you know what happened with his offer?" She hinted leaning towards me.
"I know Adam had offered a lot of money for the shares of my father's company. It was his reason for approaching me," I said, unable to forget the words he had said to me.
"Apparently karma came early. A new businessman from abroad showed up. The man has tripled Adam's big offer."
"That's... that's impossible. Adam bid over $15 million" I said in surprise.
"Yes, apparently..." Carmine started to say, but her eyes were fixed on something over my shoulders and she couldn't finish the sentence.
I quickly turned my body and my expression turned rigid as I saw Adam holding Sarah's hand.
They were both dressed smartly and had a triumphant smile on their faces. Carmine looked at them and frowned as we listened to the compliments from the rest of our co-workers.
"Oh, thank you for your compliments. I just wanted to give you some information. As you well know, Adam will not only be promoted to department head in the company, but he will also become part of the Delaware family" Sarah said with a smile.
Her every word made me feel sick. However, the bottle had run out, and as I listened to her, I ordered another.
"Adam and I are getting married" she said.
Suddenly, everyone's eyes widened in complete surprise. They all knew Adam was my fiancé, but Sarah's news blew them away.
"You are all invited. The wedding will be in two months, at the Golden Ivory Club" she added as Adam put his arm around her waist.
The reality was that my wedding to Adam was planned for that very same month, at that very same club. That bitch had stolen everything from me!
