I sighed as I stared at her, my heart sinking to the floor. Of all the names that I could have met, it had to be Melissa.
Why didn't I think of her?
Why didn't I ask Jack the kind of work she did?
Why didn't Jennifer employ a male as I had anticipated?
Why did Melissa have to come here?
A lot of whys ran through my head and I tried to find answers for them. I didn't think of her because I didn't know she was a threat at my place of work but with the way she looked at me, I was convinced she knew I worked here.
Hell, she might have even accepted the role or offered to be here when Jennifer talked about me or showed her pictures of the Osten project and those working on it.
Of all my luck, why did she have to be friends with Jennifer?
