Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Irony Of Death

Realm of Death.

The translucent man looked at the strange nothingness unbeknownst to him— an endless ravine of solitude, a gloomy place of blackness and the place where many people feared about all their life.

Also known as Death itself.

"Is this.... death?"

He deeply wondered about this irony.

Well, he finds this place quite comforting in contrast to the outside world beliefs regarding death, it even led to some clash of beliefs and even war of nations.

If you really think about it....

"Well, it's kind of understandable."

Death was one of the known primordial fears of countless species in the universe, regardless of one's own race and beliefs, their social status and rank on hierarchial level of life, and even their strength.

They are all equal in death.

Time will pass and they will face it.

And they all feared death.

It's also the sole reason why some races have gone mad and researched about the ways to extend their own lifespan even though it's an extremely taboo subject.

They even used some forbidden techniques like sacrificing children to the Demon God to be gifted for some extensions of their own life.

Some even waltz with death, in return for meager results of their research in the subject of extending lifetime and immortality.

While some, due to desperation, even held hands with Ethos, The God of Darkness.

For reference: The God of Death and the Demon God was different.

.... just to achieve immortality.

Even those of Transcendental beings all feared death.

Nevertheless, even if they fear it— they still fight until their very bitter end with their life on the line which really makes them extremely noble, compared to me...

... A cowardly and disgusting person.

Well, that's what the saying was before.

Lastly, the topic about me...

About me.

I also feared it, death.

That's why I was the last one who survived in this universe like a damn cockroach, playing with death everyday trying desperately to survive just to see the other day.

Because I feared death the most.

I feared it so much that...

I ran, and desperately hid in a safe location and then, sacrificed my people and loved ones again just for the sake of living and living for another day.

And then, ran and hid again in hidden locations, joined that group to survive and hid again while they're being attacked, sacrificing my dear people again— until it became a cycle of running, hiding and sacrificing my loved ones again and again.

That's when I realized something in the clearness of my mind.

I'm already alone...

I felt sick of myself realizing it late, because I know the reason why I did it.

"I just want to survive, right?"

I was a coward and a fool.

That's when I was ambushed in this place when I hid in this place, just like the old days.

I tried to flee from the encampment of those monstrosities.

But they got me good, huh?

They laid a trap to kill me in that world.

However, I fought hard with my life on the line and barely managed to kill those who ambushed me in that gloomy place.

Despite all of that, I suffered tremendously leading to my painful death.

Well, at the very end of the universe, I was the only one left.

Being alone, it slowly made me realize over time....

Iwas a coward.....

I was a fool.....

If I just realized the slow painful reality of mine earlier.

I would just die with them.

But I never, and I despised myself for it.

It's also the reason why I fought til the very end of my life desperately.

I want to be forgiven, I want to redeem myself from the deaths of my people.

I want to apologize for the things that I've done.

And beg for their forgiveness in heaven.

If there's something like heaven in this hell.

That's why, I embraced it, I completely embraced death humbly in my last moments.

It's really a deep irony on my part, but that is what gives me comfort in my last moments.

...I want to be with them....

Staring at the endless night this time. I just felt myself reminiscing about the various memories that I have in my life.

Those happy moments of my life, the painful deaths of my people, the techniques that I've learned in years of my lonely fighting, all of it was in my brain, stored and humbly remembered to the end of the beginning.

As I closed my eyes again, to live with those memories forever, looking forward to seeing them once more in that place.

[The Last Resort of the Universe....was Completed!]

[You are now in the World of -omitted.]

[Please, be safe, my —omitted.]

He did not hear it.

*************

Unknown Realm.

".....Where's the last survivor...?"

The man sitting at the highest chair of the room signifying his power, firmly asked the people looking at him from these lower chairs of power.

".....Where is he.....?"

He simply asked again to the people of the various races located on the lower side of the long oval table that signifies their rank and power.

He wears a long dark robe that makes him completely unidentifiable yet, his powerful voice and presence overwhelms the people of the room completely.

He's so powerful that even some speculate— even just a flick of his finger can kill a person in that gloomy room.

"....."

Yet, after some minutes. The silence was overwhelming in the room, and the answer he was expecting never appeared nor voiced it outwards.

And many people in that room just shivered at the thought and strength of that person, so they decided to just stay silent— fearing that they might be the one to get notice and bear the wrath of this man in hood.

Tick tock tick tock

The sound of the ancient clock ticking, the heavy breaths of people inside the room, the rustling of the air and windows, and small actions of people sounds like putting your hand to the table was heard instead in this deathly silence.

Yet, there's still no answer.

".....No..answers....?"

Suddenly, an overwhelming presence weighed into the people of that room.

Some people lost their footing and kneeled to the man in the highest chair while some on the other hand, bit their own lips to endure this enormous strength, some tried to withstand it with their own body and passed out, while some even choked in their own saliva and breath.

But yet, no one answered the question.

However, the long silence was gone when something was heard in front of the table.

"Hehehehe"

A black gooey-like body, with its sharp fangs and nails that seems to cut one's flesh the moment it touches it, a monstrosity you will only see in horror movies that always scare the children, someone you will imagine if you think of the evil things of the world...

...suddenly step out in accordance with the question of the supreme one at the highest level of the oval table.

With its evil grin, vertical snake-like eyes, demonic aura and power that transcends even all people in the room, probably second only to the robed-one let out a laugh.

"Hahaha!"

He shouted with reverence to the man sitting on the highest chair of the room.

"My lord!"

The gooey-like monstrosity respectfully said to the robed one while kneeling.

He said humbly, "My connection with him was severed in this universe for some unknown reason. I can't even detect him in this place, or even the planets that he might be hiding in."

"But, there's a lot of speculation that I have in my mind regarding his disappearance, and there's also this some kind of energy interfering in my search for him."

He continued to speak to the supreme one.

"It looks like he's transported to another place, or maybe, in another universe by some unknown kind of force that we don't know."

The robed man nodded, noting this unknown energy as he felt it too, it's interrupting his search for him.

He said solemnly to the people of the lower chairs.

"The plan was a success, however, we must find that person to be able to achieve that."

The people of the oval table nodded with respect.

They have to find him to complete that.

"But for the time being, we must slowly regain our energy for the next invasion."

All the people in the room looked at the highest chair to express their agreement.

They are exhausted with years of fighting and they need years of resting too.

"After 5 years, we will resume our search for him."

He said looking authoritatively in the array of races in the room.

"And lastly, it's my order."

He added.

"Dismiss."

He left the chair of the highest position.
