Chapter five
Serena
My stomach growled loudly for the fifth time since I woke up. It's been two days and I've had nothing to eat, my throat felt so dry I could barely swallow down my spit.
Staggering about, I managed to walk out of the room. Looking left and right I became confused, what turn did the mean looking guard take that brought us here?
Ah, I might faint at this rate. I clamped shut my eyes and on opening it I already came to a decision to walk what ever way my brain decided.
An hour later and I'm still standing at the door. All the path I took brought me back to the door like I didn't even move an inch.
What the fuck does all these mean? And where the hell is this god damn Mr mask? How could he have the mind to starve me for two days simply because I shoved him out of the room that day.
Well yeah, the day I agreed to be his contract wife. I hate the fact that he kept touching me so sensitively.
'Admit that you loved it and stop making unnecessary noise in my head.'
Celyn said with a groan, I just rolled my eyes and ignored her. Back there in the room, if I hadn't restrained myself, Celyn would have taken control of me, well, you can imagine the rest.
I sighed in frustration and sat down on the floor. Whoever is unlucky to come around this place at this moment shouldn't blame me. I need to feed stomach, at least if I can't eat normal food yet I should eat the other food first.
I was still in my sitting position when my ears picked up a sound, I looked around but didn't see anybody. I quickly stood up but did not move a step away from the door.
"Who are you?" I asked a handsome looking young man, way more handsome than Mr mask. The man looked at me for a while then suddenly smiled which only increased my discomfort.
He advanced forward and stopped only when he's a step away from me. I smacked my lips when his blood scent waft through my nostrils. God of vampires help me for what I'm about to do. I rushed forward and gripped him by his shirt.
Releasing my fangs, I muttered a quick sorry and sank my teeth straight into his neck. I didn't bother to first rub the spot before sinking my teeth as I always do.
I might have continued to drink from the man if a hand hadn't dragged me away. "What the heck do you think you're doing?" I hissed at Mr mask.
"I should be asking you that. What do you think you're doing?" He fired at me.
I licked off the blood moving down my lips and looked at the guy whom I just had a drink from. I sigh in relief when he seem fine, I guess I didn't drink much. I turned back to Mr mask. "Why do you act like you care when you don't? You left me alone in that darn room with no water or food and now what...you suddenly show up out of nowhere when I'm trying to help myself. Just exactly who are you to think you can treat me that way?"
"Excuse us Michael." He said to my handsome saviour.
"Zee-" The man started saying but Mr mask interrupted him.
"Just go." He said.
"So your name is Zee huh?" I asked him when Michael had left. "Such a shame I won't be able to continue calling you Mr mask."
"Follow me." He simply said and entered my beautified prison.
"I'm sorry."
I raised a brow. "Sorry for what? Did you do anything wrong sir?"
"I know I shouldn't have left you without food for two days. Can you forgive me for that?"
I scoffed. Gosh, he's no fun at all. How am I going to yell and trash at him if he's already apologizing. "It's fine." I said in the end. "But..." He looked at me.
"You have to tell me the name."
"Zeeland." He said and flashed me a smile which I didn't return immediately.
"Why am I locked in here where I can't easily walk out when I wish to? Are you sort of protecting me from someone?"
He chuckled. "I can't tell you the reason yet baby, it's a secret but don't you worry I alone am enough to protect you."
"Really?"
He nodded and looked me straight in the eye. "Really."
I laughed and walked up to him where he sat on the bed. "You know I'm a werewolf and a vampire yet you don't seem scared of me. Why is that?"
"And why should I be scared of my woman?" He asked me, a very annoying smirk plastered on his face.
I snorted.
"What? Aren't you my wife?"
"I only agreed to be your wife on paper so stop using that word of endearment to address me and also that shouldn't mean you wouldn't be afraid of me."
"Right." He held my wrist and dragged me forward sitting me on his lap. "Have you ever seen where a vampire gets scared from seeing it's fellow vampire?"
My eyes widened and I looked at him immediately. "You- are-a vampire?"
"Are you surprised? Or should I say are you scared?"
I snorted and looked away. "Why should I be? Because I'm a hybrid?"
"That of course but you should be scared because I'm more than four thousand years older than you sweetie." He swiftly raised me up and part my legs making me sit straight on his length.
He circled his hand around the back of my neck. "What will my people say when they find out I choose to make a hybrid like you my woman?"
"Why does this man makes it so darn hard to breathe in here? I'm so scared of him."
Celyn said and whimpered. I'm scared too. I admitted.
"Is that why I can't read your mind?" I asked almost beneath my breath.
He almost wanted to burst out laughing but quickly restrained himself. "How long had you known that you are a vampire?"
"A little after I clocked twenty." I answered.
"How old are you now?" He asked.
"Twenty four."
"So let's say you've known for three years then. I wouldn't blame you for not knowing things about we vampires. For today I will tell you a little about us. What part do you want to know?"
"Why I can't read your mind." I answered faster than I could say my name.
He laughed. "Is that all you want to know wife?" He asked and I nodded.
"Vampires have the ability to communicate telepathically. You can only read the minds of humans or a different breeds like the werewolf, demons, witches and others."
"Then why can't we communicate?"
Instead of him to give me a response, he held up a finger to my lips. "No more questions, I asked you if that's all you wanted knowing and you said yes. I answered you already so that's all."
"But-"
He pressed his lips briefly on mine and took it off. "If you continue to insist, I might go further than that."
I scurried off his legs and stood safely away from him, he just kept grinning from ear to ear as he walked past me.
"Let's go have something to eat. Your stomach keeps making funny noises."
Red shades of embarrassment took over my face as I followed him out of my room making a mental note to try and reduce my food intake.
