Chapter 8 - King Isa

The wolves dropped dead, their bodies disintegrating into dust. The knight dismounted, and the horse retreated back into the dark, pitch-black wall.

Wei was gasping for breath, still recovering from using so much mana for his special skill. He had only about 75 mana left. With a swipe of his hand, he pulled up the window screen.

Wei tapped on mana gems, instantly restoring his full mana. Meanwhile, Isa raised his right hand, causing his black cape to stand like a tall blade. He swung the cape, and blades shot out from it, flying toward Wei and the Biriganians. Wei jumped, parrying one of the blades aimed at him. Lance quickly jumped in, using his palm to deflect the flat part of the blade, raising his whole body in the process. Francis performed a somersault to avoid another blade, while Reich was pushed back by the blade he blocked with his two scythes. Lance, Francis, and Wei managed to evade Isa's flying blades. Isa dashed toward them, attacking relentlessly with his blade cape. Wei and Lance parried the attacks while Francis dashed backward. Francis then leaped into the air, targeting Isa's head, just as Reich positioned himself overhead to strike. At the same time, Francis released a lightning arrow. However, Isa blocked both Reich and Francis's attacks with his cape. The force of the lightning explosion threw Wei, Lance, and Reich backward, dealing them all at least 200 damage. They quickly used gems and potions to heal themselves. Wei was the first to stand, slowly pushing himself up. Isa, surrounded by smoke from the lightning blast, was unharmed and prepared to retaliate. However, he paused when he saw the energy emanating from Wei's fist.

"I really don't think you're that tough! Take this!" Wei shouted as he activated his skill.

"Water Gun!!!"

Wei's rapid shots of water barrage Isa, forcing him to block with his cape. Meanwhile, Lance and Reich charged at Isa. Francis shot burning arrows, setting both Biriganians ablaze.

"METEOR SLASH!" Lance and Reich shouted in unison as they moved like meteors, continuously slashing at Isa. Their combined attacks shattered Isa's cape, leaving his body wide open. Seeing this opportunity, Wei quickly dashed forward to Isa, activating his Liquid Slash skill. As he manipulated his sword, the blade dissolved, transforming into large, sharp spikes. With precise strikes, Wei slashed Isa's body three times, the spikes piercing deep and dealing critical damage to his life points.

"Get back, Wei!" Francis shouted. Wei immediately dashed backward upon hearing Richard's warning.

"Meteor Arrows!" With a single draw of his bow, Francis unleashed a flurry of burning arrows that streaked through the air like falling stars. Isa, still reeling from Wei's Liquid Slash, took the full force of the searing barrage, unable to defend himself. Wei watched in awe as the fiery arrows struck Isa, their impact lighting up the scene.

"Yeah! Go finish him archer boy!" Wei shouted, then a window screen popped up in front of him.

Lance sent you an item.

"WEI USE THAT ITEM TO REFRESH YOUR SUPER SKILL! " Lance shouted. Wei quickly tapped on the window screen and used the item. Instantly, all his skills were refreshed and became available for use. While Isa was still being hit by meteor arrows, Wei hastily ran towards him. He activated his super skill, called Tsunami blade, the moment he got closer. As Wei swung his sword, his blade transformed into a massive, pressured, blue, glowing liquid beam, slashing the Fiendish King multiple times. Just a few seconds later, Isa's whole body burst into flames, and he dropped dead to the ground.

"That's it? He's gone now?" Wei said.

"Yes, thanks to you, Wei. We wouldn't have been able to defeat the Fiendish King and the wolves without you. Our skills wouldn't have been enough," Lance said, smiling, as all three Biriganians' bodies lit up, showing that they had leveled up.

"Hahaha, we got three thousand experience points each, plus a one thousand bonus experience points for killing the Fiendish King! Hahaha!" Richard laughed, smirking.

"Right, and look at these new killer skills we have," Reich said, sounding very excited to test his new abilities. You could see the evil intent in his eyes.

"Surely, it will be fun for us to fight a high-level rogue now. Anyway, our job here is done. Let's get back to Fenix immediately," Lance said.

A window screen appeared where Isa had fallen.

CONGRATULATIONS!

YOU DEFEATED KING ISA!

YOU JUST EARNED A

PORTAL KEY!

USE THIS PORTAL KEY

TO EXIT FROM THE CASTLE'S

UNDERGROUND PLACE.

USE item? Y/N

Lance approached the window screen and pressed the Y button. A portal was activated shortly after.

"Guys, let's go," Lance commanded his group. The two Biriganians started following closely toward the portal.

"Let's go, Wei. We're going to introduce you to someone," Francis smirked at Wei.

Wei felt a little anxious when he saw the way Francis smiled at him, and at the same time, he felt uneasy. Wei couldn't help but wonder what had made Francis smile that way. Even so, he followed the Biriganians toward the portal.

Another screen popped up after the portal was activated.

****************************

CHOOSE WHERE YOU WANT

TO BE TRANSPORTED.

1.) Castle' main gate

2.) Great hall

3.) The tower

****************************

Lance pressed number three. Wei saw the option Lance selected and immediately asked:

"Hey, why did you choose the castle's tower? Are we going to battle an army of fiends again?"

"Kinda," Lance replied.

"Well, more gold, more money, and more fun for me," Wei thought to himself.

Wei and the Biriganians were transported to the castle's tower, which was a roofless, wide-open space. As they materialized on the tower, Wei saw a tall, slender man standing on the tower's merlons. The man was wearing a black karate uniform, with the pants and sleeves cut off, revealing his long legs and arms. The three Biriganians approached the tall, slender man.

"Commander, would you like us to help you fight the rogue knight over there?" Lance asked, looking back at Wei.

The tall, slender man stepped off the merlons and onto the tower's ground.

"No, I want all the gold and experience for myself," the tall, slender man replied.

"Wei, using our minds, we've been sending system messages to our commander since we met at the Great Hall. We reported everything about you, especially your skills. Now our commander wants to fight you. You'd better win if you still want to spend your gold coins! Hahahaha! We've got to leave now. Goodbye!" Lance said, laughing.

Wei was surprised when he heard Lance.

"What!? You freaking traitors! I've been helping you kill monsters, and now this is how you repay me!?" Wei shouted.

"That's just how life goes with Biriganian soldiers and rogue knights like you, so don't complain, just accept it! Hahaha!" Lance replied, while Francis and Reich smirked at Wei.

"Tsssss, dumbasses. You really think you're going to escape here alive, huh? After I take your lives, you'll wish you were killed by monsters and fiends rather than me. I promise," Wei said, then angrily slammed his sword onto the floor. His blade turned into liquid, splashing to the ground. From it, four giant wolves formed, leaping toward the commander and the three Biriganians. Wei used his Liquid Creatures skill, allowing him to summon any type of creature he had in mind. This was the same skill he had used to level up back in the human world—summoning creatures and battling them to train himself. All three Biriganians ran when they saw the wolves coming from midair. They successfully evaded the wolves' initial attack but scattered as the wolves continued to chase them. Francis was the first to be cornered by one of the wolves. The wolf tried to attack Francis with its fangs, but Francis quickly blocked the attack with his bow. Now the wolf was trying to grab the bow away from Francis, and he struggled to keep it. The same was happening with the other two Biriganians—the wolves were trying to snatch their weapons with their fangs and jaws. Meanwhile, the tall, slender man wrestled with one of the wolves. Wei took advantage of the situation. He used his Dash skill to close the distance to Francis. When he got closer, he moved straight toward Francis' back. While Francis was struggling to keep his bow away from the wolf, Wei swung his sword at Francis' back, but his attack had no effect. A magical barrier blocked his blade. A small window appears near the barrier and Wei quickly read it.

El Fenix blindaje

the bearer receiving any damage.

After blocking the initial attacks, El

Fenix blindaje gives 40 percent

damage attacks.

****************************

Wei activated his level 4 skill, Boost, and then rapidly slashed Francis' back. "Arrrghhh!" Francis screamed in pain as Wei continuously slashed at him. The wolf successfully grabbed Francis's bow from him. After a relentless series of slashes, Wei delivered the final blow by thrusting his blade into Francis's body, killing him instantly. Wei pulled his blade out of Francis's lifeless body, and he collapsed to the ground. The wolf immediately began biting and eating Francis's corpse. Wei turned his gaze to Lance, who was struggling with the wolf. Wei used his Water Shots. Multiple bursts of glowing, boiling blue water shot out from Wei's fist, flying toward Lance and hitting him, causing severe damage. The wolf took some damage too, but it was not as significant as the damage Lance received. Since the wolves had twice as many life points as the Biriganians, the wolf quickly recovered from the attack. Upon seeing Lance on the ground, the wolf immediately slaughtered him.
