Chapter 9 - Death for traitors

Reich saw Francis and Lance's bodies being devoured by the wolves. While Francis was already dead, Lance was still dying from the wolf's fangs. Upon seeing this, Reich was in shock. He stopped wrestling with the wolf, which gave the wolf an opportunity to grab and throw the scythe Reich had been holding in his left hand. Reich was dazed, and the wolf paused for a moment, looking at him, confused as to why Reich had suddenly stopped fighting. However, after a few seconds, the wolf lunged at him and bit his neck, attempting to rip it off. Suddenly, Reich was overcome by a great rage. He looked at Wei with fury in his eyes.

"YOU STINKING HUMAN!!!!" Reich roared as he activated his new special skill, turning his whole body into a beast.

He quickly stabbed and slashed at the wolf with the scythe in his right hand. The wolf was pushed back several meters by the force of Reich's slash, but it quickly recovered and stood up. Reich was gasping for air, his adrenaline pumping as he prepared to kill the wolf. The wolf, sensing the shift in power, activated its own skill to match Reich's strength. Its body enlarged, becoming twice its size, and its paws and claws grew larger, ready to tear flesh. But this did not faze Reich at all. With a yell of rage, he charged at the wolf.

"I'LL FREAKING FINISH YOU OFF!!!"

The wolf, enraged, ran at Reich, and the two clashed in a flurry of attacks. Reich punched and slashed the wolf with his scythe, while the wolf scratched him with its sharp claws. Wei watched the fight, but he could no longer stand to see someone so deceitful and treacherous. He dashed toward Reich's back.

"You've had enough fighting today. Time for you to rest," Wei said, and with that, he stabbed Reich with his sword, using his Liquid Blade skill.

Reich tried to look back at Wei, but before he could react, a long, sharp spike of metal liquid from Wei's blade pierced through Reich's body, even reaching the wolf. Both Reich and the wolf were impaled at the same time. The wolf burned and disintegrated as Wei pulled his sword from Reich's body, and his blade returned to its normal form. Reich dropped dead to the ground.

"What's the matter? Having a hard time killing a simple summoned wolf?" Wei said, staring coldly at the slender man.

Using both hands, the slender man grasped the wolf's muzzle—one hand on the upper jaw, the other on the lower jaw—and tore the wolf's body in half. "I'm sure you'll miss your pet, but don't worry. I'll send you to the Netherworld as well," the slender man said.

"I don't belong there, because I'm not like you and your lowly comrades. Even if I did, you're too powerless to send me there, asshole," Wei retorted.

"We'll see," the slender man replied, then ran quickly toward Wei. Wei hastily smashed his sword into the ground. "METAL ICE!" Wei shouted. As his sword hit the ground, its blade turned into a huge amount of liquid, flowing rapidly toward the slender man. The wave of liquid reached the slender man, and it solidified into blocks of ice, trapping him and rendering him immobile. Wei dashed forward and swung his sword as he passed by. The slender man was hit by Wei's attack, and the blocks of silver ice shattered into pieces. The slender man fell to his knees.

"Not enough," the slender man said.

"Then have another one!" Wei shouted, then slammed his sword into the ground again.

The blade transformed into a huge amount of liquid, which moved quickly toward the slender man. The slender man was once again encased in blocks of metal ice. Wei ran toward him.

"Water Fist!" Wei shouted. The blocks of metal ice exploded, and the slender man was hurled into the air after being hit by Wei's fist.

Wei laughed as he saw the slender man's body fall to the ground. "Hahahahahaha! Just one punch, and it looks like you're already in bedtime!"

The slender man slowly got up from the ground while Wei pulled up a window screen to check his status.

"Hahahaha! What a silly name, Gringo. Nevertheless, my name is Wei. I hope you remember it in the afterlife," Wei said, smiling.

The slender man's body began to glow, and Wei noticed that his life points were suddenly restored.

"What the?!? Don't tell me you're using Life Gems in this whole fight?" Wei exclaimed.

"Why don't you check my inventory to see what items I've got?" Gringo replied.

"Sure, I'll check and collect your items after I kill you," Wei said, then dashed straight toward Gringo.

Wei swung his sword at Gringo, but Gringo blocked it with a kick. Wei's sword flew into the air after colliding with Gringo's foot. Gringo quickly followed up with a kick that hit Wei in the chest, sending him flying backward.

"Too early for naptime, kid," Gringo said, smirking.

Lying on the floor, Wei struggled to get up. A window screen appeared on his left side, showing his life points bar.

LIFE POINTS: 700/1000

"That was just a simple kick. Why did I take 300 damage?" Wei wondered, confused by Gringo's attack. He began to think that Gringo might have a skill that enhances his basic attacks.

Gringo, eager to finish off Wei as soon as possible, no longer bothered planning his moves. He dashed forward at lightning speed, then jumped into the air. While still lying on the ground, Wei saw Gringo descending from the air. In just a fraction of a second, Gringo attempted to stomp on him, but Wei quickly moved aside before Gringo's feet reached him. He then used his Dash skill, causing the cement floor to shatter as Gringo's feet touched the ground.

"Don't tell me you're just going to run the whole time," Gringo said.

Wei was already on his feet, gasping and clutching his chest. He noticed his sword lying not too far away from him, then turned his eyes back to Gringo. Wei smiled.

"Do you mean Dash? Of course, I'll use that repeatedly. But how did you know? Are you a fortune teller?" Wei smirked.

Gringo, then ran as fast as lightning toward him, and in the blink of an eye, was already in front of Wei.

"It's easy to figure out a novice's fighting style," Gringo said.

Gringo threw a kick to Wei's face, but Wei successfully parried it. Gringo's next attack was too fast; he jabbed Wei's face.

"Here's another one!" Gringo said, about to follow up with a punch, but Wei immediately retaliated with a stronger punch.

The punch hit Gringo on his cheek, and it was so strong that Gringo couldn't react. Wei then hit Gringo with a combination of punches and kicks. Gringo took all of Wei's attacks until he was knocked down and hurled into the air by Wei's final punch.

Wei turned away to pick up his sword while Gringo was lying on the ground.

"Hey, let me know when you're done resting so I can beat you again. Hahahahaha!" Wei said.

Gringo's body began to rise as if some unseen force was pulling him up. When he finally stood on his feet, his whole body was slowly turning silver. Wei picked up his sword from the ground and turned to look at Gringo.

"What's up with your body color? Does that mean you're more powerful now?" Wei asked with sarcasm.

"Go ahead and test me," Gringo replied.

In the blink of an eye, both of them moved so quickly they clashed with each other. Gringo's feet, legs, and fists collided with Wei's sword. Wei was surprised; he couldn't believe that Gringo's body, especially his arms, legs, feet, and fists, could clash with his blade. Minutes passed as the two exchanged attack after attack. Wei noticed he wasn't making any significant damage to Gringo, and his life points were slowly decreasing because of the damage he was receiving from Gringo.

Frustrated, Wei immediately used one of his skills.

"Liquid Slash!!!"

Wei's blade dissolved, and as he swung it, his sword formed a sharp arc with huge spikes. Gringo was pushed backward by the force, several meters away, and a scar appeared across his chest from Wei's blade.

Gringo turned his eyes to the window screen at his left side.

LIFE POINTS: 900/1200

"300 damage? That's nothing. I can easily heal myself," Gringo boasted, as his life points began regenerating at a rate of 60 life points per second.

"Your skill doesn't intimidate me, nor does it impress me, you fool. You can heal as much as you want, but this next move I'm going to make will bring your freaking life to an end."

Wei's facial expression became intensely serious and furious. He stabbed his sword into the ground with both hands gripping the hilt. His blade turned into a liquid, streaming violently all over the ground. Wei pulled his sword from the ground, keeping it in its liquid form. He ran toward Gringo and swung his sword.

"Water Blade!!!"

Wei's liquid blade extended far beyond its usual length, more than enough to reach Gringo's body. As the blade slashed through him, numerous smaller blades formed from the liquid on the ground, rising and flying toward Gringo, cutting through his entire body. In an instant, Gringo's life points dropped to zero, and his body collapsed to the ground.

Wei smirked. "Heh, go ahead and just lie there. That's the best you can do in the first place."

Though Gringo's life points had been depleted, and his body was covered in blood, he still tried to move, his fingers trembling. Wei walked over and stood near Gringo's body, staring down at his face with disdain as it slowly began to disintegrate. Stuttering, Gringo attempted to speak.

"You... B-as-terd... I'll get back t-to you…"

Wei suddenly kicked Gringo in the mouth, causing it to disintegrate instantly. "You're just a weak piece of shit," Wei said, his voice full of contempt.
