Chapter 1 - 1. A Stranger

A woman was sitting on a chair in front of a 24-hour convenience store. She had just finished her part-time job. She wanted to go home right away, but she was reluctant to go home because she was afraid that men would come to her rented house to collect debts. She is already two months late in paying her debt. A debt that should not have been incurred by her because it was her father who did it. However, her father disappeared somewhere, so she had to endure the pursuit of the loan sharks' men.

Skye Ophelia Sage, the girl who is currently leaning her head on the table in front of the mini market with her hands folded on the table. Tears slowly dripped from the corners of her eyes. What was wrong with her? Why is her life like this? Her father got drunk and gambled, leaving her with gambling debts. Her mother left her when she was only seven years old. And now her life was being chased by loan sharks. Regardless of gender, the moneylenders beat her because she was late in paying her debt. One more thing, she is now being chased by the bank because her best friend used her name to make a bank loan, and her best friend has now gone somewhere with her boyfriend.

She did not expect that her lover would cheat on her. The most painful thing is that the lover's affair is with Skye's best friend. The only person Skye could rely on when she felt the world was too cruel for her. Before meeting her lover, her best friend was the one Skye leaned on to complain.

Tired, it felt like her body was exhausted. She had done a lot of work, but it was still not enough to overcome her life problems. Suddenly she felt something warm coming out of her nose. Skye immediately raised her head and covered her nose. Fresh blood was flowing from her nostrils. Apparently, her body was exhausted, that's why now her nose was bleeding. Skye could only look up with tears in the corners of her eyes because she was really tired. She really wanted to end her life, but she is afraid of daying.

A man suddenly stood beside Skye, making Skye now straighten her body and look at the man beside her. She was already preparing to run away if the man beside her turned out to be a debt collector. The man took something from his coat pocket, and it turned out that the man took a handkerchief and gave it to Skye.

"Use it to wipe the blood off your nose," the man said in a flat tone of voice.

Skye was still silent, staring at the man, the man now directed the handkerchief he held out to Skye's nose. Skye reflexively grabbed the handkerchief. The man didn't say anything else, he just walked away to enter the mini market.

Skye cleaned the blood from her nose. After feeling her nose was much better, Skye now looked towards the convenience store to wait for the man so she could ask for the man's number to call when she returned the man's handkerchief.

The man came out of the mini market, and Skye immediately approached the man. "Excuse me," Skye greeted when she stood in front of the man.

The man looked at Skye flatly. Just as Skye was about to say, the man had already said, "No need to return it, the handkerchief is just a cheap item," the man said so casually without any expression at all.

"But ..." Skye's words were interrupted because the man had left her just like that.

Skye stared at the man's departure until the man got into the car and drove away. Skye now looked at her handkerchief, she smiled at the sight of it. There are still good people, and good days will surely be there for her someday.

Skye decided to go back to her rent in case the debt collectors were no longer waiting for her. Walking with a handkerchief held to her nose, she walked down the streets that were a little cold on her skin, which was only wearing a black hoodie. Arriving in front of her apartment, there was no one waiting, so Skye could breathe freely.

Today she could sleep comfortably in her rented house even though tomorrow she had to get up early to work and avoid the loan sharks. She went to the bathroom to clean her body. Her body ached from all the wounds on her body from the loan sharks' beatings. Only scars and a blue color remained. Haisley quickly finished her bath despite feeling discomfort all over her body.

Exiting the room, Skye changed her clothes into an oversized t-shirt and training pants. She made instant noodles because she was so hungry. It seemed like the last time she ate was this morning when she bought a pack of bread and milk.

While waiting, she picked up her bag and grabbed her books. She had to do her coursework. She was tired and wanted to sleep; unfortunately, as a student, she couldn't sleep right away. She had to do her work if she didn't want to lose her scholarship.

At three in the morning, Skye had just finished her coursework. She raised her arms to stretch her muscles, which felt quite stiff and also tiring after completing her coursework.

Skye organized all her assignments and put them in her bag. Then she organized the books she used and put them in their proper places. All tidy, she now lay down on the thin mattress. Staring at the ceiling of her room for a while before she finally closed her eyes to rest for a while.

At five in the morning, Skye opened her eyes when her cell phone beeped. She was reluctant to open her eyes because she was still very sleepy. However, what could she do if she had to get up and go to work? Every morning she went to one of the restaurants to help lift the restaurant's goods that were delivered every morning. So, before six in the morning, she has to arrive at the restaurant.
