Chapter 2 - 2. Accident

Skye arrived at the restaurant, and no sooner had she arrived than the items she needed to bring into the restaurant arrived. She quickly moved the fresh vegetables from the car into the restaurant. Finished with her work, she was paid 8 dollars. One of the staff gave her a packet of bread and a bottle of milk.

Skye said thank you before she left. She walked down the sidewalk to her campus. She wanted to take the bus, but she really needed to save money. She had to pay her rent, not to mention her father's and her best friend's debts. Skye walked so casually, like there was no burden, even though in reality, her brain was very noisy with the problems in her life.

She kept walking until she was careless and ended up getting hit when she was about to cross the zebra crossing. The light had just turned red, but Skye was in such a hurry to move that she was slightly hit by a car. Thankfully the car braked immediately, otherwise Skye's body might have bounced far away because of the impact of the car that hit her.

Skye tried to stand up, but it was a little difficult because she seemed to have sprained her leg. "Ah," she sighed as she held her ankle.

A man got out of the car and approached Skye. "Are you alright?" the man asked.

"I'm fine, sir. Sorry, it's my fault for not being careful enough. So your car hit me. But don't worry, sir, I'm fine, so you don't have to take any responsibility," Skye replied and stood up.

She tried to hold back the pain, but she couldn't. She would have fallen down if the man hadn't immediately grabbed Skye's arm and waist.

Skye pushed the man away. "I'm sorry, sir," Skye said, feeling bad.

"Thank you for helping. I'll excuse myself then. Have a happy day, sir," Skye said before she walked away from the car that hit her.

She walked with a limp because her legs were too painful to walk. A man who was in the car and the owner of the car that had just hit Skye stared at Skye's limping departure. The driver got into the car, making the man now stare at the driver.

"Didn't she ask to be taken to the hospital?" the man asked.

"No, sir, she didn't even ask for medical money because she thought she was at fault for not being careful when crossing," the driver replied.

The man looked back at Skye, who was already on the other side and was standing by the trash can. She was throwing away the food she was holding. "That's her breakfast," the man muttered. The car soon left the area as the light turned green.

Skye, with hobbling footsteps, finally arrived at her class. She breathed a sigh of relief that she had finally reached her class. Because the lecturer had not yet arrived, she chose to close her eyes for a while. Resting for a moment before her brain processes to listen to the lecturer's teaching.

After the lecture was over, Skye went to the mini market where she worked last night. "Skye, what's wrong with your leg?" asked her coworker, who looked worried to see Skye hobbling.

"Ah, I fell because I didn't pay attention to my steps when crossing the street this morning. So, my leg is like this," Skye replied with a smile.

"Not because of those thugs from the other day who came looking for you?" asked her friend with a worried look on her face.

"No, I fell on my own," Skye replied with a smile.

"Have you taken it to a doctor? If not, you should go and rest. Don't let your leg hurt like that," her friend said.

"Lily, thank you for caring. But it's just a small wound. Just put a patch on it, it will heal tomorrow," Skye replied with a smile.

"If it's still like this tomorrow, you should rest and not work," said Lily.

"Yes," Skye replied, still smiling.

Skye went to the break room to change her clothes. After changing her clothes, she approached her friend, who was on guard. "There, if you want to go home," Skye said.

"Do you have anything to do this Sunday?" asked Lily.

"Only two jobs, in the morning I go to the restaurant to help lift fresh vegetables, and at eight I work here," Skye replied.

"My friend offered me a job as a waiter at one of the hotels. They were short of people, so she asked me to look for people. So, if you want, I'll sign you up with my friend," said Lily.

"Of course I want to," Skye replied enthusiastically. "But what time do you start working?" asked Skye.

"Okay, then I'll let my friend know if you're going with me," said Lily. "As for the time, we'll leave at five in the afternoon, the program starts at seven in the eveninBut t, we will have a briefing beforehand," Lily continued to answer Skye's question.

"Ah, thank you, Lily," said Skye as she hugged Lily's neck.

"Tsk! Let go!" said Lily as she pushed Skye's hand away. Skye just smiled at Lily while Lily rolled her eyes lazily.

Now that Lily was home, the door to the convenience store opened. "Welcome," Skye greeted with a smile.

She was silent for a moment when she saw who was coming. The man who gave her the handkerchief had just walked in. "Can I help you, sir?" asked Skye, smiling at the man in front of him.

"Cigarettes xxx," the man replied, and Skye took one.

"Anything else, sir?" asked Skye.

"Has your leg been treated?" the man asked, making Skye quite surprised to hear it.

"Excuse me, sir?" asked Skye, as she was afraid of misunderstanding what the man in front of him meant. There was no way the man would know that her leg was injured.

"Didn't you get hit by a car this morning? Is your leg okay?" the man asked, causing Skye to pause as her thinking turned out to be wrong. The stranger in front of her knew about the accident that happened to her this morning. Even though the accident was due to her negligence who was not careful when crossing.
