Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: The New Chapter

The first day of the new term arrived with an atmosphere charged with excitement and anticipation.

The summer holidays were a distant memory, and now the corridor of Springfield High School buzzed with activity. Students reunited with their friends, chatting about their vacation adventures, while others rushed to their classrooms, eager to start the new academic year.

Among many faces, two stood out — Jonathan and Joshua, inseparable as always, walked side by side, their presence a noticeable force in the otherwise chaotic environment.

As the two strolled through the school gates, a wave of attention followed them. It wasn't just the confidence in their steps or the way they carried themselves; there was something magnetic about them, an undeniable charm that drew eyes.

Jonathan and Joshua were among the most admired students at Springfield highschool, not only for their intellect but also for their striking looks. They look so Handsome in a way that makes it hard for you to pick one. they were the subject of whispers and sidelong glances wherever they went. Some girls couldn't help but giggle and whisper to each other, while others couldn't resist waving or flashing bright smiles their way. A few seemed almost beside themselves, their hearts racing just at the sight of the two.

But Jonathan and Joshua, despite the attention they garnered, moved through the school with an ease that belied the admiration. They had grown used to it. It was just another part of their daily lives. As they walked towards the corridor that led to their first class of the day, they exchanged a few quiet words, mostly about the summer break and the excitement of starting fresh.

However, the day's tranquility was soon interrupted.

The sharp sound of footsteps echoed down the hallway, growing louder as the two friends approached the corner. Suddenly, rounding the bend ahead of them was Mr. Benjamin, the mathematics teacher. A man in his late forties, with graying hair and a sharp, often stern expression, Mr. Benjamin was known throughout the school for his no-nonsense attitude. He was a teacher who valued punctuality and precision, qualities he expected of all his students, regardless of their status or popularity.

"Jonathan, Joshua," Mr. Benjamin's voice cut through the air like a whip, his tone harsher than expected. The boys stopped immediately, their shoulders stiffening. "Why are you walking so slowly? The bell is about to ring, and the class is about to start. You should be running to the classroom, not strolling around as if you are in the park.

......

..........

The entrance to the school buzzed once again. the sound of a car's engine roaring as it drove through the gates cutting everyone's attention including Jonathan, Joshua and Mr Benjamin.

Students scattered around, whispering excitedly as the vehicle came to a stop. The doors of the car opened, and three figures stepped out, each catching the attention of every onlooker in an instant.

The three well know friends in the school, Sophia, Angela and Lisa.

First, there was Angela, with her effortless beauty and calm demeanor, followed by Lisa, always the life of the crowd, her laughter filling the air like a melody. And then, Sophia— the unmistakable presence that commanded respect and admiration from anyone who dared to look her way. Known as the "Boss Lady," she was a top beauty at the school, and a member of one of the wealthiest families in the city. But it wasn't just her looks that drew attention—there was an aura of confidence that surrounded her, one that told everyone around her to take notice.

As the trio made their way through the bustling hallways of the school, students couldn't help but stare, some in awe, others in envy. Whispers followed their every steps, But despite all the attention, Sophia walked with a focused air, as if her mind was already elsewhere, on something—or rather, someone—more important than the admiring glances of her peers.

Her eyes scanned the hallway, before falling on two figures in the distance. Jonathan and Joshua stood with their backs to her, talking with the math teacher, Mr. Benjamin.

Sophia's heart gave a slight flutter and a smile appeared on her face. It had been weeks since she'd noticed him. Weeks since she'd caught glimpses of him. Sophia have always have her eye on Jonathan but the guy seems to be avoiding her.

Despite all her popularity, her wealth, and her beauty, there was one thing Sophia wanted more than anything: Jonathan's attention.

And yet, despite her best efforts, he had never once acknowledged her in the way she had hoped. No matter how many times their paths crossed, no matter how often their eyes briefly met, there was always a wall between them. It was as if he couldn't—or wouldn't—see her.

Jonathan and Joshua saw Sophia walking towards them, Joshua glanced at Jonathan with a teasing smile on his face.

What are you two looking at?, I am not don talking Mr Benjamin shouted.

Jonathan and Joshua exchanged a brief look, their expressions neutral. They were no strangers to Mr. Benjamin's strict demeanor, but the abruptness of his reprimand still caught them off guard. It was common knowledge that Mr. Benjamin had a reputation for being harsh, and some even said he had a temper that could turn the most confident student into a nervous wreck. But Jonathan and Joshua, who were both known for their unflappable nature, simply nodded in acknowledgment of the teacher's words.

....,.....

......

Sophia Continues to walk towards them. Angela and Lisa flanked her on either side, offering polite smiles to the students who greeted them as they passed. But Sophia wasn't looking at anyone else. Her gaze remained fixed on Jonathan. The crowd seemed to part in slow motion giving way to them..

.......

......

"We'll hurry along, sir," Joshua replied politely.

Mr. Benjamin, however, wasn't in the mood for politeness. His gaze lingered on them for a moment longer than usual, his sharp eyes scanning their expressions as if he were searching for any sign of disrespect or insubordination. Satisfied that they weren't challenging him, he gave a curt nod and glanced at Sophia and her two friends who were walking towards them.

"See that you do," he muttered before turning on his heel and walking briskly towards the Staff room

Jonathan and Joshua remained still for a moment, watching as he disappeared down the hall, his steps purposeful and quick. The tension that had filled the air dissipated almost as quickly as it had arrived.

"Well, that was a warm welcome to the new term," Jonathan said with a wry grin, his voice light.

Joshua laughed softly, shaking his head. "Yeah, if that's what we get for walking too slowly, then you would imagine what happens if we're late for class."

Joshua looked behind and saw Sofia still walking towards them "She's here" he whispered to Jonathan with a smile on his face.. Jonathan's face turned sour and he quickly began to Walk away.

Hey , Jonathan Sophia called out softly...

Jonathan turned and looked at her " hey you are here" he waved at her and continue walking towards the classroom without Westin time or giving her attention.

a complicated look appeared on Sophia's beautiful face....as she stood there while seeing Jonathan walk away.

"Y...yo.. you.. what did you just do, that's too embarrassing" Joshua said as he hurriedly followed Jonathan from behind.

What do you want me to do?, hug her? or carry her to the classroom? Jonathan asked with raised brows.

"Of course, that's more like it" Joshua replied excitedly

"You are crazy " Jonathan said without paying attention to him.

Hahahahahah.. Joshua laughter range across the hall way.

As they hurried toward their classroom, the noise of students filtering into the school seemed to fade away.

The start of the new term was always a time for change and growth. While others fretted about the upcoming lessons or dreaded the workload ahead.

The bell rang, signaling the beginning of the first lesson of the term. Jonathan and Joshua walked into their classroom ready to face whatever lay ahead.
