The bell rang once more, signaling the end of the day's study session. Jonathan was busy packing up his books and notes, barely noticed the sudden stillness that settled in the room. The chaos of students bustling toward the door seemed distant as he focused on organizing his belongings. His movements were deliberate, as if he was in no rush.
Across the room, Joshua sat perched on top of his locker, legs dangling as he casually watched Jonathan pack up.
Outside the classroom, Sophia stood alone, her back pressed against the wall as she occasionally peak in the class room. She seems to be waiting for someone Usually, her friends Lisa and Angela were right by her side, but today, they were nowhere to be found. They had disappeared into the washroom during the last break.
"What am I even doing" she thought, staring blankly on the floor. " Am I really into him? No.....no I just want to be friends"....but if it's true shouldn't he be the one coming to me? Not the other way round. How can I put my self so low because of him".
"I need to keep it cool from now on".she thought to her self.
With that, she turned on her heels and headed for the washroom to find Lisa and Angela.
Inside the washroom, the sound of running water echoed off the tiles as Angela and Lisa finished washing their faces. Both were standing at the mirrors, wiping away the remnants of the water on they faces, their hair damp and slightly out of place. The silence between them wasn't uncomfortable; in fact, it was a moment of calm before their usual chatter returned.
Angela, ever the curious one, couldn't help but smirk as she glanced over at Lisa. "You know," she began with a teasing lilt to her voice, "I really smell something fishy here. Are you sure our queen, Sophia, isn't in love?"
Lisa's eyebrows shot up at the question, but she didn't immediately respond. She ran her fingers through her wet hair, considering the idea. "I don't think so. Maybe she just wants to approach him so he can help her during the math's classes. You know how she struggles with that."
Angela let out a dramatic sigh, clearly unimpressed with Lisa's theory. "Please. That is a cover-up if I've ever heard one. I see the way she looks at him. It's obvious."
Lisa gave her a knowing smile, shaking her head. "And you're always 'smelling' something. Your nose is going to get burned one day."
Angela smirked and rolled her eyes, but before she could make a witty retort, a voice pierced the air, causing both of them to freeze.
"Who are you guys gossiping about?"
The sudden question made their hearts skip a beat, and both girls quickly turned to face the source of the interruption. Sophia stood in the doorway, her expression unreadable, though the slight narrowing of her eyes suggested she was already aware of the topic at hand.
Lisa, ever the quick thinker, managed to regain her composure first. She grinned, trying to play it off casually. "Oh, nothing," she said nonchalantly. "Just discussing about the cream I told you guys about this morning, isn't it Angela?" She cleverly passed the ball to Angela and she quickly nodded her head in agreement....
a smile appeared on Sophia's face and it sends shivers down they spins. Nothing good is going to happen when she smile like that."It seems I have been lenient on you guys this days, both of you will be going home with your two legs today, I won't drop any of your off". She said with a sten face before leaving the washroom...she was pissed.
Lisa's face flushed, and she gave Angela a sharp nudge, but it was too late. The damage was done. her expression shifted slightly, a small but telling hint of frustration flickering in her eyes.
Lisa and Angela exchanged a glance. They could see the way Sophia's shoulders tensed, her pace quickening as she walked down the hallway. Both knew that the playful teasing had struck a nerve.
"You are always causing trouble, see what you have don. now am going to Trek from here to my house, and I don't even have any money with me to take a bus" Lisa said in frustration.
"Stop acting as if you are the victim here" Angela's face turned ugly. Why do you have to say that I am interested in that your cream?" Did I ever say that I want to buy that sh*t". Angela said in annoyance before Walking out of the washroom.
"...Y..yo..you"...
bang!!!...
Lisa stomp her foot in anger before following behind.
Outside, the hallway was now filled with the sounds of students gathering their things and heading home. The sun had already begun its descent, casting a golden light through the windows. Jonathan was just finishing up his things when Sophia stepped into the classroom. her head slightly lowered as she quickly scanned the area. She looked up as she saw him.
For a brief moment, their eyes met. Jonathan's lips parted, as if he was about to say something, but before he could, Joshua's voice cut through the silence.
"Hey, are you going or not?" Joshua called out from the other end of the classroom already half-turned toward the exit.
Sophia didn't pay attention to any of them an just walk towards her locker before picking her bag and exiting the classroom.
Behind the school building....a guy was currently being surrounded by five boys. His name is Kelvin (aka) the fatty, he is in class 2A. he is indeed fat, a stout boy with dark hair and a round face .
He was indeed a bit overweight, and his appetite was legendary. Kelvin could eat a meal meant for three people in one sitting without hesitation, and he always carried a variety of snacks in his bag in case of emergencies.
However, one peculiar aspect of Kelvin's life was that he was the punching bag for the school bullies.
Despite his size and appetite, he was a coward, and this vulnerability made him an easy target for the school bullies. This guys took great pleasure in tormenting Kelvin.
The boys surrounding Kelvin were his classmates, and they were also one of the most notorious groups of bullies in Springfield High School. They were known to beat people up and extort money from weaker students, and Kelvin was currently their target.
At the center of the group was Gabriel, the apparent leader. He was a stubborn individual with poor grades in class, and his aunt's position as a school director often helped him get away with his misdeeds.
Owen, Tyler, Kelly, and Daniel were the other members of the group. "Bring out everything in your wallet" Gabriel said in a threatening tone. Kelvin quickly handed over his wallet, and Owen took it from him.
Owen rummaged through the wallet and pulled out a few cash. "Is this all you've got?" he asked, he asked in annoyance.
Kelvin, tears streaming down his face, responded "yes."
Owen sneered at him. "Is too small." Before Kelvin could react, Owen threw a punch at his face.
The sound of a loud thud echoed through the air as Kelvin fell to the ground, a swollen bump forming on his face. The others quickly joined in, pummeling Kelvin with their fists and feet. He tried to defend himself, but he was no match for the five boys.
The sound of their laughter and jeers filled the air as they continued to beat Kelvin mercilessly.
