AMAYA'S POV
"No," I said as horror went through me. "I can't take this. I can't tolerate this."
I took some steps backward until I got to the bed and sat on it. I stared at the floor with wide eyes and a fast-beating heart. How did I put myself into this situation? How did my life change from the depressing state it was into something even worse than depression.
Wolves? Supernatural beings? Pregnant with a wolf? A human hating beast? What was happening? This had to be some sort of joke. How did my life spin into some crazy phase?
"I know this is all too much for you to handle but it is the truth." Andrew slowly approached me and stood at a respectable distance. "Your life is also in danger… Our enemy, the people who kidnapped you have been at war with our pack for years and Alpha Maxim's head is all they want to get. Now that they know you carry the heir, your life will be at stake. And as such, you will be kept within the walls of the manor, under the protection of—"
"What if I do not want it?" I asked and glared at him. "What if I don't care if I die? Your alpha or whatever the fuck he's called doesn't like me, why should I care if I live or die?"
Andrew's expression switched to what looked like exasperation before he sighed while looking to the side. He nodded his head and turned away fully, backing me.
"Listen, Amaya… I really believe in everyone having their own rights, I really do but dying is not an option here. I am sure you have so much to live for and we are here to make sure that the baby does not kill you from inside out. After three months, you can go your way and while you are away, we promise to keep an eye on you in case anyone tries to harm you."
I pressed my lips hard, stopping myself from replying to his words as a part of me saw a truce I could work with. I could give birth to their heir, negotiate a price for it then walk away, traveling to some place far away. Some place no one knew me, far away from this horror tale I was suddenly living in. This was my way out of my poor life. From the way these people acted, I could tell they were rich, filthy rich.
I had made my decision.
I raised my gaze and met his, then I exhaled, taking off the tension in my chest. I was ready to move onto the next stage of my life, even if it meant living with people who were not human.
"I see you have made the right choice," Andrew said, as if he had read my mind, then he looked away.
I groaned and held my head when the same sharp feeling I had felt when I was with the wolves hit me again. I wondered why it happened but whatever it was, it hurt hard, and it needed to stop. Just as it started, it ended, making me relax.
"I have informed Alpha Maxim about your decision."
I blinked, wondering how he had spoken to Maxim about my decision. I eyed him up and down then tilted my body backward then he bowed slightly.
"Welcome to the BloodClaw pack," he spoke with so much authority in his voice.
Something deep down inside me made itself known to me that I was making a bad decision, especially when it involved the man I was sexually attracted to. But no matter what, I was going to fight against it at all costs.
