Marriage?!
No. I won't let that happen.
I can't marry him.
"Elders, what do you mean by this decision?"
I could tell from his tone of voice that he was trying to be respectful, and this was the only time I was going to plead for him to defend me. I needed him to speak up against this because there was nowhere on earth or even in hell I was going to marry him.
"Alpha Maxim."
"Yes, Elder Shruti," he replied.
I desperately wanted to look up at their faces, to see who these people were and how they thought they had the right to decide someone's fate— My fate.
"You have come to us about this news and expect us to bring dishonor to the pack? It is unheard of for any alpha to have an heir outside of wedlock. If you do not want to bring dishonor to us, you must obey."
