Chapter 29 - We Didn't Set The House On Fire

I was never much of a cook, but standing in the kitchen that evening, chopping vegetables alongside Calvin, I had to admit that it wasn't so bad.

 

"Are you certain that you know what you're doing?" I asked, observing his hands as he routinely diced an onion.

 

Calvin grinned, rolling his sleeves up to the elbows. "I should be the one asking you that. You've been cutting that carrot for five minutes."

 

I glared, looking down at my work. Fine, maybe I was a little out of practice and was doing a terrible job, but I wasn't about to admit that.

 

"Whatever. Just focus on your onions."

 

Mily sat with one leg on a stool at the kitchen counter, grinning at us. "This is great. If I had known that all it took to get you two to be cooperative was putting you in a kitchen, I would have done this a long time ago."

 

Calvin mock-growled at her, narrowing his eyes in playful warning. "Don't push your luck, Mily."
