Chapter 30: Is She Worth It?
Raphael couldn't rest properly, so he decided to go to the gym.
That smell of sweat, leather were the only things that felt closer to home.
The sound of gloves hitting punching bags echoed throughout the space, a loud pounding that usually helped Raphael focus. But not today.
"Again," his trainer, Marco, barked. "You're slow."
Raphael exhaled for a bit longer, his fists tightened inside the gloves.
He bounced on his feet, rolling his shoulders, before throwing a sharp jab at the bag. Marco decided to stand beside him, wrapping his arms around his chest, watching closely.
"Something's off," Marco said, stepping forward and catching the bag as it swung.
His dark eyes narrowed. "You're hesitating."
Raphael's jaw clenched. "I'm fine."
"Bullshit." Marco pulled his whistle from around his neck and tapped it against his palm.
"You think I don't see it? Your mind isn't here. You're distracted."
