Chapter 27 - CHAPTER 27

As they walked back to the mansion, Anna couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over her. They had finally faced James and come out on top.

Georgia seemed to sense her mood, and she smiled as they walked. "I'm so glad that's over," she said.

Anna nodded in agreement. "Me too. I was starting to think we'd never be able to get rid of him."

Georgia shuddered. "Don't even joke about that. I don't think I could handle seeing him again."

Anna put a reassuring arm around her shoulders. "You don't have to worry about that. The alpha will make sure he's punished for what he did."

Georgia nodded, seeming to relax a little. "I know. I just can't believe it's finally over."

As they approached the mansion, Anna could see that the alpha was standing outside, waiting for them. He smiled as they approached.

"I'm glad to see you two are safe," he said. "I was worried sick about you."

Anna smiled back at him. "We're fine, thanks to you," she said.

The alpha nodded, his expression serious. "I'm just glad I was able to get there in time. James is...unpredictable."

Anna shuddered at the memory of James's crazed expression. "That's one way to put it," she said.

The alpha's expression softened. "I'm sorry you had to go through that. You deserve better."

Anna felt a warmth spread through her chest at his words. She knew that the alpha was a complex person, but in that moment, she felt a deep connection to him.

"Thank you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The alpha smiled again, and this time, it reached his eyes. "Anytime," he said.

As they stood there, Anna felt a sense of peace wash over her. She knew that she still had a long way to go, but in that moment, she felt like she was exactly where she was meant to be.

The alpha's phone rang, breaking the spell. He apologized and answered it, listening intently to the person on the other end.

After a few moments, he hung up and turned to Anna and Georgia. "I have to go," he said. "There's been an...incident."

Anna's heart skipped a beat. "What kind of incident?" she asked.

The alpha's expression was grim. "One of the pack members has been injured. I need to go and take care of it."

Anna nodded, feeling a sense of worry. "Is it serious?" she asked.

The alpha hesitated before answering. "I don't know yet. But I need to go."

Anna nodded again, and the alpha turned and hurried off, leaving her and Georgia alone.

As they watched him go, Georgia turned to Anna. "Do you think everything is okay?" she asked.

Anna hesitated before answering. "I don't know," she said. "But I'm sure the alpha will take care of it."

Georgia nodded, seeming to relax a little. "You're right. He'll take care of it."

As they stood there, Anna couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She didn't know what it was, but she knew that she needed to be careful.

She turned to Georgia. "Let's go inside," she said. "I don't like standing out here in the open."

Georgia nodded, and they both turned and hurried back into the mansion, leaving the uncertainty of the outside world behind.

As they stepped inside, Anna felt a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that they were safe, at least for the moment.

But as she looked around, she realized that something was off. The mansion seemed...different.

She frowned, trying to put her finger on what it was. And then, she saw it. A piece of paper on the floor, with a message scrawled on it.

Anna's heart skipped a beat as she read the message. "Georgia, look at this," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Georgia walked over and looked at the paper. Her eyes widened as she read the message.

"What does it mean?" she asked, her voice trembling.

Anna shook her head. "I don't know," she said. "But I think we're in trouble."
