Anna stood frozen, her eyes locked on James. She could see the anger and hatred burning in his eyes, and she knew that they were in grave danger.
Georgia grabbed her arm, her voice trembling. "Anna, what do we do?"
Anna didn't hesitate. She knew that they had to get away from James, and fast. She turned and ran, pulling Georgia along behind her.
They sprinted across the lawn, their feet pounding the grass. Anna could hear James behind them, his footsteps heavy and deliberate.
As they ran, Anna's mind was racing. She knew that they couldn't outrun James forever. They needed a plan, and fast.
She spotted a small shed in the distance, partially hidden by a clump of trees. Without hesitation, she changed direction, pulling Georgia towards the shed.
They reached the shed and burst through the door, slamming it shut behind them. Anna leaned against the door, panting, as Georgia looked around wildly.
"What are we doing?" Georgia whispered.
Anna took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "We need to hide. James will be looking for us."
Georgia nodded, her eyes wide with fear. "But what if he finds us?"
Anna didn't have an answer. She knew that James was desperate, and desperate people did desperate things.
As they caught their breath, Anna heard James outside, his voice muffled but unmistakable. "I know you're in there," he snarled. "You can't hide from me."
Anna's heart skipped a beat as she realized that James had found them. She looked around the shed frantically, searching for a way out.
But there was none. They were trapped.
James began to laugh, a cold, mirthless sound. "You're going to pay for what you did," he spat. "You're going to pay dearly."
Anna felt a chill run down her spine as she realized that James was more unhinged than she had ever seen him before.
She knew that they had to get out of there, and fast. But as she looked around the shed, she realized that they were running out of options.
And then, just as James was about to break down the door, Anna heard a loud noise outside. It sounded like the sound of footsteps, heavy and deliberate.
James's laughter stopped abruptly, and Anna heard him mutter a curse under his breath.
The footsteps grew louder, and Anna realized that someone - or something - was coming towards the shed.
She looked at Georgia, her eyes wide with fear. "What's happening?" Georgia whispered.
Anna shook her head. "I don't know."
And then, just as the footsteps reached the shed, the door burst open, and a figure loomed in the doorway.
Anna's heart skipped a beat as she realized who it was. It was the alpha.
He strode into the shed, his eyes blazing with anger. "James, you're coming with me," he growled.
James snarled, baring his teeth. "I'm not going anywhere," he spat.
The alpha smiled, a cold, hard smile. "Oh, I think you are," he said.
And with that, he reached out and grabbed James, hauling him out of the shed and into the bright sunlight.
Anna watched in amazement as the alpha dragged James away, the two of them disappearing into the distance.
She turned to Georgia, her eyes wide with excitement. "Did you see that?" she whispered.
Georgia nodded, her eyes shining with tears. "I saw it," she said.
Anna grinned, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. "We're safe," she said.
Georgia nodded, smiling back. "We're safe."
As they hugged each other tightly, Anna knew that they had finally found a sense of peace. They had faced their fears and come out on top.
And as they walked out of the shed, into the bright sunlight, Anna knew that they would always stand together, no matter what dangers lay ahead.
