Chris stood at the door of Reimu's shrine, dressed in his casual outfit—a simple T-shirt and jeans, with his signature jacket. He gave a soft knock, waiting for her to answer. The sound of footsteps echoed from inside, and the door swung open to reveal Reimu, now dressed in a more modern outfit, a casual dress with a bit of a fashionable flair. She had a playful grin on her face as she looked at him.
"So, ready for our date?" Reimu asked, her voice filled with excitement.
Chris couldn't help but smile, though there was a touch of hesitation in his eyes. "Ready as I'll ever be."
Reimu giggled, holding up a small pass. "I got the permission to go to the Human world, just like we talked about."
Chris raised an eyebrow, remembering the process well. "Yeah, I remember the passes. If anyone from Gensokyo wants to go to the Human world, they need one. It's a pain, but... I guess it's necessary."
He glanced at the pass in her hand, the familiar yellowed paper with a few runic symbols printed on it. He smirked. "So, I take it someone helped you with that?"
Reimu tilted her head, a knowing smile crossing her lips. "Well, let's just say I have some connections."
Chris chuckled, remembering the yellow-haired goddess who had once been far too interested in him. He was still trying to wrap his head around her infatuation, but he didn't want to dwell on it now.
"So, what's the plan?" he asked, shifting the conversation back to the date.
Reimu gave him a playful wink as she swung the door open wider. "You'll see. But I promise, it's going to be fun."
Chris raised an eyebrow but followed her as she stepped outside. The air felt different somehow, more vibrant, almost as if Gensokyo itself knew a change was happening.
"Lead the way," he said, hands in his pockets, as they started walking together toward their destination.
As they walked down the path, Reimu glanced over at him with a mischievous smile. "So... about that yellow-haired goddess of yours... I haven't seen her around lately."
Chris sighed, trying to push the subject away. "I'd rather not talk about that right now, if that's alright."
Reimu smirked, clearly enjoying the discomfort she had caused him. "Oh? I thought she'd be tagging along today, considering how close you two are."
Chris shot her a look, but Reimu was already laughing at his reaction. He rolled his eyes and shook his head, deciding to let it go.
The two of them continued walking down the road, the Human world just beyond their reach. It felt strange to him; everything had happened so quickly. He had expected nothing more than just another ordinary day, but now it was starting to feel like the beginning of something new. Something he wasn't sure he was ready for.
"So, where exactly are we going?" Chris asked, breaking the silence.
Reimu kept her eyes forward as she answered. "You'll see soon enough."
Chris sighed, knowing he wouldn't get an answer. "You're such a tease."
Reimu laughed lightly. "What can I say? I like to keep things interesting."
As they walked, Chris's thoughts wandered. There was still a lot he didn't know about Reimu, her connection to Gensokyo, and even his own purpose here. Still, this moment felt... normal. Just two people walking together, with no distractions or fights to break up the peace.
For once, maybe this was what he needed.
He stole a quick glance at Reimu, who was humming a little tune to herself, clearly enjoying the walk. Maybe this date would be a good thing after all.
They passed through the final stretch of the Gensokyo path, and Chris could see the human world in the distance. He didn't know what awaited him there, but for now, he was content.
"So," Chris began again, "I guess this is where we part ways, huh?"
Reimu turned to look at him, her smile softening. "Not yet, we're just getting started."
Before he could ask any more questions, Reimu stepped forward, holding the pass out toward a shimmering rift in space that had opened up ahead. It was glowing with a soft light, a thin crack between the two worlds.
Chris looked at it, then back at Reimu, who was already stepping into the rift.
"Well, here goes nothing." Chris said with a deep breath, stepping in after her.
They both stepped out of an Allie way, as they came to the Human world, and they took a breath.
Chris caught as he spoke. "By the gods, yup still polluted".
Reimu looked at him as she giggled. "Yeah same here, so not nervous".
Chris rolled his eyes, grabbed her waist and pulled her close. "Why would I be, we have been on too many dates over the years"
Reimu blinked in surprise at Chris's sudden movement, feeling the warmth of his arms around her waist. She chuckled, resting a hand on his chest.
"Still, this is different, isn't it?" she mused. "It's not just some casual outing in Gensokyo. We're in the Human world now, where things work differently."
Chris smirked. "Yeah, yeah, different rules, different setting. But at the end of the day, it's still you and me. And I'm not about to get nervous over that."
Reimu's cheeks tinged slightly pink, but she quickly covered it up with a teasing grin. "Oh? Confident, aren't we? Should I remind you about the last time we had a date in a festival and you got flustered?"
Chris groaned. "That doesn't count. You cheated by dragging me into a couple's contest."
Reimu giggled. "And we won, didn't we?"
Chris sighed in defeat but smiled nonetheless. "Fine, fine. Let's just focus on today. So, where are we headed first?"
Reimu hummed in thought. "I was thinking of starting with something simple—maybe a café or a park?"
Chris glanced around the busy streets, his mind briefly drifting to the past. "A café sounds good. Let's just hope we don't run into any supernatural nonsense while we're here."
Reimu laughed. "Oh please, with your luck? Something will happen. The real question is when."
Chris sighed, knowing she was probably right. Still, for now, they had a date to enjoy. And he intended to make the most of it.
Chris started to walk, as he looked at her. "So, which country did we enter through?".
Reimu looked as she spoke. "Don't worry, we are in Japan, not in Utah; you don't want to return to your home country ever".
Chris chuckled as he spoke. "Yup, not going back to the place where all the murders started".
Reimu smirked. "I figured as much. Besides, Japan suits you better. Less... traumatic memories, right?"
Chris sighed, rubbing the back of his head. "Yeah. Less reminders of a past I'd rather leave buried. Though, knowing my luck, something or someone will probably drag it back up eventually."
Reimu gave him a reassuring nudge. "If that happens, you're not dealing with it alone. You've got me—and plenty of others watching your back."
Chris chuckled. "Yeah, yeah. Thanks, Reimu."
She smiled. "Of course. Now, enough about the past. Let's get some coffee before we start exploring."
Chris nodded, following her as they made their way toward a café, hoping—just hoping—they could enjoy a normal date for once.
As they entered the café, the warm aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. It was a cozy little shop, not too crowded, with soft jazz playing in the background. Reimu walked up to the counter and scanned the menu, while Chris leaned against it, looking around.
Reimu hummed. "I'll take a matcha latte."
Chris glanced at the menu and shrugged. "Just a black coffee."
The cashier, a young woman, nodded and rang up their order. As they moved to find a seat, Chris suddenly tensed. His eyes flickered toward the window, scanning the street outside.
Reimu noticed. "What is it?"
Chris sighed, rubbing his temple. "Nothing... I just feel something."
Reimu raised an eyebrow. "Something supernatural?"
Chris narrowed his eyes, watching the people walking by. "Maybe. I don't know yet. But if it's trouble, I'd rather not deal with it today."
Reimu smirked, resting her chin on her palm. "Oh? You, avoiding trouble? That's new."
Chris scoffed. "It's called enjoying a peaceful date for once. I know, shocking concept."
Reimu giggled. "Well, if anything happens, I'm sure we can handle it."
Their drinks arrived, and for a few blissful minutes, they enjoyed their coffee in silence. But just as Chris began to relax, he felt a shiver run down his spine.
The café door swung open, and a woman walked in. The both of them looked at eachother and saw who it was, it was Yukari
"Oh come on…"
Yukari stood before them, holding up a familiar pass. "Did you really think I'd let you have a date without me joining in, Chris?"
Reimu sighed, setting down her drink. "Of course you would show up."
Chris pinched the bridge of his nose. "Why are you here, Yukari?"
She winked. "Oh, just making sure you two don't get too cozy without me~."
Chris muttered under his breath. "I swear, one day I'm locking her in a gap and throwing away the key…"
Reimu just sighed. "Well, there goes our peaceful date."
Yukari grinned, pulling up a chair. "Oh, don't be like that! Think of this as a group outing."
Chris groaned. "Yeah… that's totally what I wanted today."
Despite his complaints, he had a sinking feeling that their peaceful date had just turned into something much more chaotic.
Chris looked at Yukari; he noticed the other people were not looking at her or even noticing as he sighed. "Listen, as I said, Yukari, I will take on your date Tomorrow; I already had today booked by Reimu, so why are they here?
Yukari smirked, resting her chin on her hand as she looked at Chris. "Oh, don't be so cold. I just wanted to see how your date was going~."
Chris sighed, rubbing his temple. "Yeah, yeah, and I bet that has nothing to do with you messing with the border so no one else can see you right now."
Reimu crossed her arms. "Yukari, I swear if you try anything to ruin our date, I will exorcise you."
Yukari giggled, clearly amused. "Oh, Reimu, you're so feisty. But don't worry, I'm not here to ruin anything—just to observe."
Chris shot her a deadpan look. "Then why do you have a menu in your hand?"
Yukari hummed, acting innocent. "Well, I am a bit hungry… and this is a café."
Reimu groaned. "You really have no shame, do you?"
Chris shook his head before looking at the waitress. "Alright, fine. Just bring her whatever she wants before she starts bending reality to make food appear on the table."
The waitress—who still wasn't reacting to Yukari's presence—simply nodded and went to take the order.
Yukari clapped her hands together. "Oh, you really do know me so well, Chris~."
Chris grumbled. "I know you too well, which is why I know this is just you trying to get on my nerves."
Reimu sighed, sipping her drink. "Just ignore her, Chris. Let's enjoy our date despite her."
Chris took a deep breath, nodding. "Right. Back to our date."
Yukari just smirked, watching the two with an amused glint in her eyes. She definitely wasn't leaving anytime soon.
Chris was released after a while, and what was meant to be a Date just between him and Reimu, has become a date between him, Reimu and Yukari and Reimu was ready to start a battle right here in the Human world.
Chris sighed as he looked at Reimu, who was gripping her coffee cup so tightly it might just shatter. Yukari, on the other hand, looked completely at ease, sipping her drink with a smug expression.
"Reimu, as much as I also want to throw hands with her, we're in the human world," Chris reminded her, nudging her gently. "And I don't feel like dealing with the cleanup if you start blasting seals everywhere."
Reimu huffed, crossing her arms. "That's if I use seals. A good old-fashioned punch works just fine."
Chris held back a chuckle. "Tempting, but let's not." He then turned to Yukari, who was still enjoying the situation far too much. "Okay, since you have no plans to leave, what exactly do you want?"
Yukari tapped her cheek playfully. "Oh, nothing much~. Just watching my dear little Chris enjoy himself. And, of course, making sure Reimu doesn't get too attached~."
Reimu's eyebrow twitched. "That does it—"
Chris immediately grabbed her wrist before she could stand up. "Reimu, no. I'd rather not make the news today."
Yukari giggled. "Oh, don't be so dramatic. The humans wouldn't even notice. I could bend the border just a tiny bit and—"
"No," Chris and Reimu said in unison.
Yukari pouted but relented, resting her chin on her hand. "Fine, fine. But don't expect me to leave anytime soon. After all, I am part of your life, Chris~."
Chris groaned. "Unfortunately."
Reimu sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "This was supposed to be a peaceful date."
Chris patted her shoulder. "Tell you what—after this, we'll go somewhere she can't follow. Sound good?"
Reimu looked at him, a small smile forming. "Sounds like a plan."
Yukari smirked, swirling her tea. "Oh, you think there's a place I can't follow?"
Chris shot her a knowing look. "Yep. It's called locking the door."
Yukari blinked before pouting. "That's cheating."
Chris smirked. "No, that's called winning."
Reimu chuckled as Yukari pouted, and despite the chaotic interruption, Chris felt like the date was still salvageable.
Chris sighed as he got, as both the girls got, as he looked at the two girls in his harem. "I guess I am going on a date with both of you now... You know fuck it, why not? Not many people can say they went out with two beautiful girls at the same time".
Yukari chuckled as she spoke. "Not the first time this has happened to you; the last one happened in 2012 in the UK with Ran and Kaku".
Chris sighed as he spoke. "Yes, but the whole situation was different because it was planned that way".
Reimu huffed, crossing her arms. "So what, you're saying this isn't planned? You're acting like you don't enjoy the attention."
Chris rolled his eyes with a smirk. "Oh, I absolutely enjoy it, but I also enjoy knowing what I'm getting into before it happens." He looked at Yukari. "This? This is what we call an ambush date."
Yukari giggled, twirling her parasol. "Surprises keep life interesting, don't they?"
Chris sighed but smiled anyway. "Fine, fine. You win. Double date it is."
Reimu, still mildly annoyed, nudged him. "Just don't spend too much time entertaining her. I was here first, after all."
Yukari gasped dramatically. "Oh my, is that jealousy I hear?"
Reimu's eye twitched. "It's called staking my claim."
Chris chuckled, raising his hands. "Alright, let's not start a fight in the middle of the city, please. Now, where do you two want to go first?"
Reimu thought for a moment. "Somewhere with food. Human world food."
Yukari nodded. "Agreed. You do still owe me a meal, Chris."
Chris sighed, shaking his head. "Alright, alright. Food it is."
And with that, their chaotic, unplanned date officially began.
