Ines slowly opened her eyes…
Her head throbbed…
Before she could fully gather her thoughts, a familiar, worried voice broke through her haze.
"Hey, Ines… wake up. Are you alright?" Raphael's tone was gentle yet with concern as he leaned over the side of her bed.
Blinking away the remnants of sleep, Ines met his eyes. "I'm awake," she replied in a hoarse voice.
Raphael's eyes darted around as if searching for something.
"Did… did Lucian touch you?" he asked gently.
Ines hesitated, then managed a small, tired smile. "He didn't have time, Raphael," she said slowly. "I wasn't… there long enough."
Raphael's face fell, worry etched in every line.
"Ines, I'm so sorry. I should have been here sooner, I—" He trailed off, feeling too guilty.
She waved a hand dismissively, though her eyes betrayed pain.
