Chapter 24 - The Future Will Be Destroyed

The next day, Harvey woke up feeling better than before.

Even the pain in his back had faded, so he wasn't in as much pain as last night.

'The medicine Seira applied to me actually feels better than the previous one. Did the Imperial healer give it to her?' he thought.

He then looked to his side, and saw the sleeping Seira leaning her head against the edge of his bed. He realized that he had been holding her hand since last night.

'She fell asleep here. I shouldn't have kept holding her hand all night. But I didn't want her to leave when she rubbed my head,' he thought again.

That was because Harvey felt so comfortable when Seira started rubbing his head and singing lullabies to him.

His two yellow eyes kept watching her, and slowly reached for Seira's head. He gently brushed her bangs, from her face that looked very pretty. Somehow Harvey felt that he recognized the melody Seira was singing.

He felt like it was the same lullaby he had heard when he was a child.

That's why he felt comfortable and eventually fell asleep.

Feeling a hand on her head, Seira slowly woke up and saw Harvey staring at her. She rubbed her eyes, and yawned slightly.

"Lord Harvey? You've been awake since earlier, why didn't you wake me up?" she asked.

"You look exhausted, you must have been awake since last night and slept in this uncomfortable state. You should just let go of my hand so you can go back to your room because," Harvey replied.

Hearing that, Seira had a new thought because for some reason last night she felt like she couldn't do it because. She seemed to think she couldn't leave there and chose to sit back and keep him company.

"But still, thank you for being here for me. And what you sang last night, I know the city was forced to do it but I also have to thank you for that," he said.

Seira cleared her throat, turning her face away because she felt embarrassed remembering that she sang a lullaby for him last night.

"That's not a problem at all," Seira said.

She then asked Harvey for permission to touch his forehead and check if his fever had gone down. And fortunately, his fever had indeed gone down.

"The pain in my back is better too."

She nodded but still felt a little worried. "It must have hurt a lot, even if you felt it all night."

"Yes, I admit it was painful. But I believe this is just the beginning of what the crown prince will do next. I can't believe that the next Imperial will lower his taxes," Harvey said in a weak voice.

From the first time Harvey had to submit to Darco, he could see the future of the Imperials that would collapse because of that man. He was not a clairvoyant, but he could foresee it happening.

Darco was an arrogant man and he never thought about the misery of his people. Even though his current position is the crown prince, he should have learned about it.

"He should learn more about the lives of ordinary people. At least respect the people," Seira said.

"You're right."

He was sure that within a few years after Darco took over the Empire as the new Emperor, the Empire would soon fall apart because of the people who began to defect. Not only the commoners, but he was sure some of the nobles would also do the same.

Although perhaps some of them would still side with Darco, but it would not last long if they finally realized that what the man was doing was a bad thing.

"There's going to be a lot of rebellion going on, isn't there?" Seira looked at Harvey with a serious face.

"Yes, and it will be imperial ruin. Me, Leonard and Albert have tried so hard to protect the imperial court, even seizing other territories to expand ours. But it will all be in vain if Darco..." Harvey's hands were clenched quite firmly in annoyance.

He even admitted that he had doubts if something happened and he had to protect Darco later. If the rebellion really happened, they were sure those people would target Darco who was in charge at that time in the future.

"Although we are the Imperial Knights, the trusted knights of the Emperor and his descendants. There's no way we can defend a leader we consider to be in the wrong."

Seira could understand what Harvey was trying to say. And she would also definitely not be willing to serve a leader who was considered cruel even to everyone. Although the three knights were also known to be very cruel by many people, but they still thought about the lives of many people, rather than themselves.

In the middle of their serious conversation, there was a knock on Harvey's door. Leonard and Albert entered the room after Harvey allowed them to enter. The two men seemed to still be worried about him, but he said that his illness was much better.

"You all don't have to worry about me, it's no big deal, I'm not going to die that easily just because of the punishment I got."

"Good then, we saw that Seira was waiting for you all night. So we thought to stay out of the way," Leonard said.

"I should go make breakfast then." Seira bent down to pull herself away, as she knew it was past time to make breakfast.

"No need, I've already made breakfast for us. Since I think you must have been exhausted all night waiting for Harvey in his room. So I did the cooking this morning," Leonard stopped Seira before she left.

"But that is my duty. You don't have to go that far, Lord Leonard," she said.

Only Seira also said she didn't know that Leonard could cook because. Albert had also joked about it, but he remembered that Albert had often been left behind by his mother. So he often watched the nanny make food.

Even if it was just simple food.

"You can go to your room and rest for a while and then join us in the kitchen for breakfast."

She nodded her head in understanding, then left Harvey's room as she continued to think about their previous conversation.

She kept thinking about the consequences that would happen in the future if Darco continued to hold Imperial power later.

The woman seemed to be trying to convince herself of the decision she was about to make. She knew this was a big decision that would definitely change a lot of things that had happened in the mansion for almost six months.

"Indeed, I think it's time to come out of the shell I've prepared. I know it's not the right decision to make so soon, but I'm sure I'll get what I need soon enough."
