The rival pack's alpha, a towering figure with piercing yellow eyes, glared at Anna and Georgia, his expression twisted in anger.
"What are you doing here?" he growled, his voice low and menacing.
Anna stood tall, trying to appear braver than she felt. "We're just looking for someone," she said, trying to sound nonchalant.
The alpha's eyes narrowed. "Who?"
Anna hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But before she could answer, Georgia jumped in.
"We're looking for James," she said, her voice firm. "We heard he might be here."
The alpha's expression changed, his eyes flashing with surprise. "James?" he repeated. "What makes you think he's here?"
Anna and Georgia exchanged a look, both of them thinking the same thing: they had to be careful what they revealed.
"We just heard rumors," Anna said, trying to sound vague. "We didn't think it was true."
The alpha's eyes narrowed, his expression skeptical. "I don't believe you," he said. "You're not just looking for James. You're looking for something else."
Anna and Georgia exchanged a nervous look, both of them thinking the same thing: they had to get out of there, fast.
But before they could make a move, the alpha raised his hand, signaling to one of his guards. "Take them to the holding cells," he growled. "We'll get the truth out of them."
Anna and Georgia were dragged away, struggling against their captors. They were thrown into a dark, damp cell, the door slamming shut behind them.
As they sat in the darkness, trying to catch their breath, Anna turned to Georgia. "Well, that didn't go well," she said, trying to sound lighthearted.
Georgia groaned. "You think?"
Anna smiled, trying to reassure her friend. "Don't worry, we'll get out of here. We just have to come up with a plan."
Georgia nodded, a determined look on her face. "Let's do it."
As they sat in the darkness, trying to come up with a plan, Anna couldn't shake the feeling that they were running out of time. They had to find James, and they had to do it fast.
But as they sat there, trying to come up with a plan, Anna heard a faint noise coming from outside the cell. It sounded like footsteps, light and cautious.
Anna's heart skipped a beat as she realized that someone - or something - was coming for them.
She grabbed Georgia's arm, her eyes wide with excitement. "Do you hear that?" she whispered.
Georgia's eyes narrowed, her head cocked to one side. "Hear what?"
Anna's eyes locked on the door, her heart pounding in her chest. "Footsteps," she whispered. "Someone's coming."
