Chapter 3 - Scarlet Mansion

It had been a year since Chris and Now Cassidy had arrived at Gensokyo; as Chris was walking, Talisman was on his body by that of Reimu to hide him, as he walked way too close to a place.

As he stopped as he saw Mansion, he blinked, and then he moved out of the way, as it hit the Talisman breaking, and now All of Gensokyo felt his energy.

"So you have been hiding, how interesting".

Chris then saw who attacked him, She looked like a young girl, she wore a pink dress and had vampire wings

[Insert Image of Remilia]

He knew who this was, Reimu told him all about the fraction in this damn place, as she said

She may look like a child, but she's a vampire who has lived more than 500 years. Her personality and behaviour are as childlike as her appearance, though. She takes pride in her tremendous physical abilities as a vampire, and additionally, she can manipulate fate.

Chris sighed as he looked at Remilia, rubbing his forehead. Of course, the moment the talisman breaks, someone notices. He then turned to face the vampire, who was floating just a few feet off the ground, her crimson eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Remilia smirked. "You must be the mysterious presence Reimu's been hiding. How interesting." She flapped her wings lightly, tilting her head. "You don't look like much. A lost soul? A spirit? No... something more."

Chris rolled his eyes. "Oh great, another person who's going to test me, huh?" He stretched his arms. "Alright, let's just get this over with."

Remilia raised an eyebrow. "Oh? Confident, are we? That makes it even more interesting!" She snapped her fingers, and a swarm of bats materialized around her. "How about a friendly game of Danmaku?"

Chris groaned. "Great, another one."

Before he could even finish complaining, Remilia dashed forward with inhuman speed, forcing Chris to teleport out of the way. His instincts kicked in, and he barely dodged a barrage of red and blue bullet patterns that exploded behind him.

Cassidy, who had been watching from the sidelines, sighed. "He's still getting dragged into fights, huh?"

Chris reappeared above Remilia, summoning a golden energy wave and firing it down. The vampire grinned and dodged effortlessly, countering with a barrage of her own. "Not bad! But let's see how you handle this!"

With a flourish, Remilia summoned a massive spell circle, and suddenly, the night sky turned red as countless scarlet bullets rained down. Chris' eyes widened. "Okay, that's definitely overkill!"

He weaved through the bullets, using his teleportation to avoid the most dangerous ones. But Remilia was relentless, laughing as she pursued him. "Come on, boy! You can do better than that!"

Chris smirked. "Alright, you asked for it."

Golden light flared around him as he raised his hands. The entire battlefield seemed to tremble as golden chains shot out of nowhere, binding Remilia midair. Her eyes widened in surprise. "Wha—?!"

Chris appeared in front of her, smirking. "Gotcha."

With a snap of his fingers, a final burst of golden light exploded around her, ending the battle. Remilia floated down, panting slightly, before breaking into laughter. "Hah! Now that was entertaining!"

Chris landed beside her. "So, do I pass your weird little test?"

Remilia grinned, showing her sharp fangs. "More than that. You're interesting. Come, let's have tea at the Scarlet Devil Mansion. I insist."

Chris blinked. "...Wait, what?"

Cassidy chuckled. "You just got yourself invited to a vampire's tea party. Congrats."

Chris sighed. "This afterlife is so weird."

And so, his first encounter with the Scarlet Devil Mansion began.

Remilia flies to the door of the Mansion, and Chris then teleports to the door.

Remilia looked at Chris. "You can't teleport".

Chris looked at her as he spoke. "You didn't notice in the battle".

Remilia looked at him as she spoke. "I thought you moved at high speed".

Chris smirked as he leaned against the doorframe. "Nope. Pure teleportation. Pretty useful, huh?"

Remilia crossed her arms, her crimson eyes narrowing. "That explains how you dodged some of my spell cards so easily… Interesting. Not many in Gensokyo can teleport like that."

Chris chuckled. "Yeah, well, I like to keep things interesting."

Cassidy floated up behind them, shaking her head. "You two gonna stand here all day, or are we actually going inside?"

Remilia huffed and pushed open the doors to the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The grand hallway inside was exactly what Chris expected—ornate red carpets, golden chandeliers, and eerie gothic decor that screamed vampire aesthetic.

Almost immediately, a young girl with silver hair and a maid uniform appeared in front of them, her blue eyes sharp and calculating. She held a set of knives between her fingers, ready to strike.

Chris instinctively took a step back. Oh great, a battle maid.

Sakuya's eyes flickered between him and Cassidy before settling on Remilia. "Mistress, is he an intruder?"

Remilia waved a hand dismissively. "No, no, he's a guest. A special one."

Sakuya's gaze lingered on Chris for a moment before she lowered her knives. "Understood." She then turned to Cassidy. "And the spirit girl?"

Cassidy crossed her arms. "I'm with him."

Sakuya nodded, then looked back at Remilia. "Shall I prepare tea?"

Remilia smirked. "Of course. And make sure it's the good tea. This is a rare occasion."

Chris sighed. "Why do I feel like I'm being set up for something?"

Remilia grinned as she led them further inside. "Oh, don't worry. I just want to talk."

Cassidy muttered under her breath. "Yeah, right."

Chris and Cassidy followed Remilia deeper into the Scarlet Devil Mansion. The hallways were grand, dimly lit, and filled with a sense of eerie sophistication. Chris had been in strange places before, but this one had a unique gothic charm.

As they reached a large sitting room, Chris noticed a massive table filled with fine china and pastries. A steaming teapot rested in the center, with Sakuya standing beside it, poised and elegant.

Remilia gracefully took a seat at the head of the table, gesturing for Chris and Cassidy to sit. "Now then, let's have a little chat, shall we?"

Chris sat down, crossing his arms. "Alright, what's this really about, Remilia?"

Sakuya poured tea with practiced precision, her movements impossibly smooth. "Mistress has taken an interest in you," she stated matter-of-factly.

Chris raised an eyebrow. "Taken an interest in me? That's not ominous at all."

Remilia chuckled, taking a sip of her tea. "You're interesting, Chris. Very few beings in Gensokyo can suppress their presence like you did. And fewer still can teleport. That makes you unique."

Cassidy leaned back in her chair, unimpressed. "So what? You wanna recruit him?"

Remilia smirked. "Perhaps. Or perhaps I simply want to understand what he is."

Chris sighed, rubbing his temples. "Look, I'm not looking to cause trouble. I just wanna enjoy my afterlife in peace."

Remilia placed her teacup down with a soft clink. "You say that, but beings like us rarely get to live in peace, Chris." Her crimson eyes locked onto his. "Especially when you're hiding something."

Chris stiffened slightly. He didn't like where this was going.

Sakuya, still standing beside the table, narrowed her eyes. "We don't trust unknown variables in Gensokyo. Not after past incidents."

Chris exhaled through his nose, knowing this was leading to an inevitable confrontation. "So what do you want from me?"

Remilia's grin widened, showing a hint of her fangs. "Simple. A Danmaku battle. If you win, I'll consider you an ally. If I win…" She leaned forward. "You'll tell me everything about yourself."

Cassidy groaned. "Why does everything in this place have to be settled with flashy battles?"

Chris smirked, standing up. "Alright then, Scarlet. Let's dance."

The battle was about to begin.

The atmosphere in the room shifted as the tension grew. Remilia's playful demeanour vanished, replaced by a calculating intensity. Chris stood, his body subtly tensing as Cassidy remained seated, arms folded, clearly uninterested in the formalities of the mansion.

Remilia's eyes gleamed with anticipation as she floated into the air. "Don't disappoint me, Chris. I expect a proper show."

Chris smirked, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I never disappoint." He raised his hand, summoning a familiar energy, though this time it felt more instinctual as if his powers had been waiting for this moment.

Sakuya, standing by the side, nodded to Remilia, her calm expression belying the tension in the room. "Are you ready?"

Chris simply nodded, stepping back slightly as Remilia raised one hand, her vampiric aura swirling around her. Suddenly, multiple glowing red orbs appeared around her, spinning as if they had a mind of their own. The air crackled with a strange, otherworldly force. "Let's see if you can handle my fate manipulation," she declared with a grin.

Before Chris could react, the orbs shot forward like missiles, tracking him with terrifying precision. Each one seemed to possess its arcane intent, ready to strike him down if he made even the slightest misstep.

Chris grinned. This was more like it. He snapped his fingers, and in an instant, he vanished from sight, teleporting behind Remilia. The speed of the move caught her off guard, but she was quick to react, her wings flaring as she spun around to face him, the red orbs swarming to intercept.

"Not bad," she mused, narrowly avoiding a close-range swipe of Chris's energy-infused fist. "But how long can you keep this up?"

Chris was already moving again, teleporting around the room in rapid succession, dodging the incoming barrage of Danmaku. Each move felt smoother than the last, his power flowing more naturally as his body adapted. Remilia's eyes followed him closely, her vampiric instincts sensing his every movement, but Chris was unpredictable. He wasn't just fast—he was elusive.

Then, in the blink of an eye, Chris reappeared right in front of Remilia, his hand glowing with an intense golden energy. "You've got more tricks up your sleeve than I thought," he said, smirking.

Remilia's grin widened, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "And you're not too bad yourself." She raised her hand, a wave of energy pulsing outward, sending the orbs spiralling around them in a chaotic pattern, increasing their speed and frequency. It was a fierce attack, but Chris wasn't about to back down.

As the orbs closed in on him, Chris stretched out his hand. "Time to turn it up." He concentrated, pulling on his abilities. A burst of golden light erupted from his palm, expanding outward and pushing the orbs back. The light seemed to warp space itself, distorting reality. The attack wasn't just powerful—it was an extension of himself, a projection of his will.

Chris spoke in his. "I did it? I did it!".

For a brief moment, the entire room seemed to slow down, the orbs frozen in place. Remilia's eyes widened in recognition. "Time manipulation? Interesting, even do you don't have control over it."

But before she could react, Chris teleported again, this time appearing behind her and slamming his fist toward her back.

"Not bad at all!" Remilia's voice rang out, and in an instant, she vanished, dodging Chris's attack with supernatural agility. She reappeared in the air, her wings spreading wide. The entire room shifted as if she was manipulating the very fate of the battle itself.

A single red orb floated before her, pulsing with dark energy. "I can see why you're so hard to pin down. But you're still no match for me, Chris."

The orb exploded in a burst of crimson light, and from it emerged a barrage of red beams that filled the room, targeting every space Chris might occupy.

Cassidy stood off to the side, watching the battle unfold with an amused expression. She crossed her arms and sighed. "This is taking longer than I expected. Come on, Chris. Wrap it up."

Chris, still in the thick of the action, smirked. He wasn't finished yet. Time for his final move.

He raised his hand once more, and the golden energy began to crackle in the air around him. With a fierce burst of power, he teleported once again—this time, directly above Remilia.

The ground beneath him shattered as he descended, his energy forming a massive wave that shattered the Danmaku attack and sent Remilia reeling. The force of the impact was immense, sending a shockwave through the mansion.

Remilia struggled to maintain her position in mid-air as she absorbed the force of Chris's power. She looked up at him, her eyes filled with both frustration and a strange sense of admiration. "Impressive," she muttered.

But just as Chris was about to move in for the final strike, Remilia's wings flared, and the remaining orbs shot toward him in a last-ditch attempt to take him down.

Chris wasn't fazed. He formed a barrier around himself, deflecting the orbs with a flick of his wrist. "You were fun, Remilia," he said, his voice calm and collected. "But this is where we end."

He teleported one last time, appearing right in front of her. With a flick of his wrist, he released a concentrated burst of golden energy straight at her.

Remilia's eyes widened in shock, but before she could react, the energy hit her squarely in the chest. The blast sent her flying back, crashing into the far wall of the mansion. The room was silent for a moment.

When the dust settled, Remilia slowly stood, her red eyes meeting Chris's. She wiped the blood from her lip and grinned. "You're not bad at all. Very well... You've won."

Chris lowered his arm, breathing heavily. "That's the idea."

Sakuya, who had been standing in the background, walked over to Remilia, offering a hand to help her up. "You should be more careful. You've underestimated him."

Remilia smirked, accepting the hand. "Maybe. But it was a fun fight, don't you think?"

Chris crossed his arms and nodded. "I don't know if I'd call it fun, but it was entertaining."

"Then let's call it even, for now." Remilia's grin widened. "You're free to go. For now, at least."

Chris nodded, turning toward the door. "Thanks for the hospitality."

As he stepped outside, Cassidy followed behind him, shaking her head. "That was a pain in the ass. But you handled it well."

Chris sighed. "Yeah, but I don't think this is the last time I'll see her."

Cassidy smirked. "We'll see. For now, let's get back to something more relaxing."

And with that, they left the Scarlet Devil Mansion, the air still thick with the aftermath of their battle.
