My phone began to ring before my alarm even went off. The shrill sound sliced through my half-conscious state, dragging me from the last grip of sleep. Awfully sleepy with my eye still struggling to work properly, my hands fumbled for the phone on the nightstand and I blinked as I adjusted the screens brightness.

A pit settled in my stomach. He had never called me this early, and he had barely called me at all. Was something wrong?
I swiped to answer, sitting up. "Hello?"
"Lily." His voice was sharp, edged with tension. He sounded out of breath, like he had been running or panicking. "It's Mily."
A cold rush of fear shot through me. "What happened to Mily? My voice came out louder than I intended, raw with alarm.
