Chapter 22: Failed Escape
Ines sat stiffly on the cold metal chair, her wrists bound behind her back.
The ropes bit into her skin, but she refused to wince.
This barely lit warehouse smelled of oil and rust, reminding her of that one night when she escaped from Trevor.
Lucian was just a few feet away, sitting… he crossed his legs, appraising her like she was a piece of art he was trying to determine the value of.
His long black hair was tied back, revealing a strict and evil jawline.
His dark eyes held no warmth.
"You don't look as helpless as I expected," he finally said in a smooth but harsh voice.
Ines didn't respond. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction; not after what he just said about her body.
Lucian smirked, walking toward her with slow steps.
"They told me you were a princess, pampered and naive. But I see something else." He tilted his head. "You don't scare easily, do you?"
