Chapter 12 - NOT ALL ARE CLEAN

Something about that man at the store gave her the like there was this stirring within her. Lisa had driven away as she was hoping to figure herself out. One thing was certain, she did not like him one bit.

As she got home and was beginning to go inside, her phone started ringing. It was inside her handbag when she pulled it out and frowned when she saw the name on the screen.

"Bastard. Come to blame him some more?" She muttered as she started walking inside the house.

The housekeeper at the entrance noticed her mood and tactfully stepped aside. Lisa kept walking inside. All she wanted was the thing she had been hoping to get from Mandy and that ruffian had to go out of his way to ruin everything. On a day like this, she needed something to assist with her composure and it was never so easy.

She got upstairs and then started checking through her cupboards and all the places she hid stuff away to see if she would find at least a single drop. There was nothing.

"Fuck it all!" Lisa yelled as she crumpled slowly to the floor, her hands cradling her head when her phone started ringing again. She wanted to totally ignore it but she needed the distraction. Something to channel her adrenaline into, which was why she took the call. "What?"

"We need to talk." He said to her,

"Listen Kelly, I don't think that there is anything for us to talk about." She responded harshly.

"Baby, I know. I understand that you're pissed at me but we really need to talk, please." He said to her,

"About what?" She demanded.

"Everything but not over the phone. I'll text you the address. We'll have a meeting after work." He said.

"So you can stand me up again?" She demanded.

"Trust me, it would not happen this time." He said and before she could say anything else, someone started calling him in the background.

"You're at work?" She demanded.

"See you tonight." He responded and then hung up.

Something was amiss.

"This time, what about other times you are an arrogant piece of shit? Would you stand me up then?" She muttered as she pushed the phone away from her.

She was already beginning to feel like she was about to go sick. Perhaps, there should be something that would help her cool off in the fridge. Lisa, now barefooted, walked out of her bedroom and then to the kitchen. She opened the fridge and was trying to find something, anything at all but she saw nothing.

That was when a bright thought crossed her mind.

"Mrs Solis?" She called out to her housekeeper.

The woman rushed out, still trying to keep her job intact.

"Yes, miss?" She answered her.

"Those bottles of vitamins I gave you, did you throw them out already?" She asked her.

"The expired ones?" The woman demanded.

"Ah, they were expired, right?" She asked.

"Yes. They are, miss." The woman responded.

"Very well then, how about this, do you have any cough syrups or something in that nature?" She demanded.

"Miss, did you catch a cold or something? I could fix you a hot meal to help with lots of spice." The woman suggested innocently.

"I did not ask for a hot meal." She responded. She was already frustrated at this point and started walking away leaving the confused woman staring after her.

Lisa went back to her room and found her phone again only to realize that he had sent her the address of where they would be meeting. It was a hotel room and she was pissed.

She walked back to her bathroom as she fixed herself a bath in the tub where she soaked herself inside with hopes that she would feel better.

It has been a couple of years now that Lisa Picasso has been battling her addiction. She never thought that she would be something like this, a person that was hooked onto drugs and would not perform without them. How she had gotten into it was all based on her depression which she has been battling with. The scarring of her father's past has always been something that was used against her most times.

Despite the fact that the public would always see him as a repentant saviour, it was not everyone that was swayed by his words. Most certainly believed that all he was doing was a show and she was involved in his shenanigans. One would say she should ignore it all, but then, those who still saw this for a fact were the real people from this country.

Now, she had been staying away from her father in hopes she would get herself clean and be able to look him in her eyes.

She had been that way until she met Mandy when she relapsed.

Eventually, she was done after soaking herself and dozing off in the tub. She started getting ready to go to the hotel as she wanted to look really good. Enough to at least sway some emotions from the uptight cop. By the time she was done, in her overcoat, she walked out and got into her car.

She arrived at the hotel with everyone who recognised her greeting her very excitedly and she just smiled. By the time she got to the room, Kelly was already there and waiting.

"When did you come?" She asked him as he locked the door.

At least, he had not only shown up but he was on time for once.

"Not too long. We only have thirty minutes." He said to her,

"Then we best make the most of it." She responded as she started to open the coat and took it off standing in front of him with her lingerie on.

"No, this is not why I'm here, Lisa. I came to talk." He said to her,

"We can talk and play." She said,

"People are dying, Lisa! Does this look like the time to play?" He demanded, his tone a tad aggressive that it shook her.

Lisa blinked as she started to realise why he had wanted to see her. It is as clear as the sky that it was still related to the call he had made to her the previous day. She started to pick her coat and started putting it on.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled. It's just that I've been really stressed out recently." He said as he tried approaching her.

She took a step backwards.

"No. Don't apologise. I totally get it, okay? You want to talk. I'll listen but after this, I will say something to you." She responded.

"Okay. Please, can we sit?" He asked her as he pointed to the bed and there was a chair beside the bed, interrogation style.

Lisa walked over and sat down on the chair, making it clear as the sky. He sighed then came to sit on the bed, facing her.

"Start. I have to be somewhere." She responded.

"Two people were found dead today again, just like the ones from yesterday." He said to her,

"And you think that my father did it again?" She demanded.

"It is not that. Just that I want to rule out everything in the books. We all know his lifestyle which he claims to give up but we also know that like addiction, it doesn't just go away. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to steer it that way." He responded.

She could see now that her father has always been right. Detective Kelly never loved her.

"Don't apologise. All this was something you could have asked me on the phone. Why drag me here?" She demanded.

"Let's just say that I wanted to see the look in your eyes when you answered. In a good way too and I wanted to make it clear that all was good between us." He responded.

All was good? He was yet to tender an apology for the last time especially when he was trying to make it seem right. Lisa felt prickled at this point.

"Here's what you should know. I'm not going to be your snitch henceforth because it's clear what you want to use me for." She said,

"Baby, no. It's not like that." He said to her as he reached for her.

Lisa put up her hand warning him.

"And you would always want my father behind bars despite the fact that he's changed." She continued.

"He killed a lot of people, Lisa." He responded.

"True and I already spoke to him. He's not aware of whatever it is you're working on. However, this should be the last time you would contact me whatsoever or however. We're done and I've had enough." She responded and then rose up.

"Baby please..." He started but she was already going out. He wanted to go after her but then Kelly knew something, no matter how much he loved her, keeping her close to him when he was actively investigating something that involved her father was going to be a strain.

That and the fact that he had witnesses to speak to.

However, somewhere in the unseen, there were two entities watching. A couple actually but two in particular.

"Abba father, are you certain we did not make a mistake putting that system in her?" The angel asked respectfully.

"Patience is a virtue, Micheal." Abba father responded.
