Well, the system had spoken and he definitely was not planning on disobeying. Julio turned around to go back but just then, a group of youths walked inside the store. He wanted to go after them but alas, he had an inclination this was definitely not something he wanted to do in the open. He would have to stake out his prey and when he was unsuspecting, he was going to swoop in like a kite and take him out.
He walked back to his car where he had parked and was watching the store. It was as if fate was against him at this point because more people started coming to the store as if the hands of fate were against him. Julio was beginning to wonder just why the system had referred to him as such a task at this point. It was as if they knew he was going to face this hurdle and wanted to make everything difficult.
While he was there, he started thinking about the young lady, Lisa. He had already seen his face on the screen with little or no details and he knew that had she recognised him, she would have said something. This was quite confusing because how on earth would she not know him if she was affiliated with Pedro Picasso. This was really annoying and at some point, he was beginning to feel really bored.
Lots of people were at the store at this time and he really wanted to go attend to other things. He also wondered if by any chance, the system would decide to have mercy on him and change his task. Nevertheless, he decided to drive back to the motel and come back much later into the night to tidy things up for good.
He had just driven up to the motel when he noticed the car up there. The cops were everywhere which made him wonder why there were so many people. That was when some men came out bearing two stretches with body bags on it. Julio did not need a soothsayer to tell him that he had to get out of that place immediately. But it was already too late as the cops had already spotted him making him get down with confidence as he started heading to the motel.
The manager was speaking to a man there.
"So you think she did it?" He asked her.
"She's always been a creep, I tell ya and suddenly, she's missing when this happens." She said,
"And you think that girl would have managed to do this to two people?" The man asked her.
"Well, you noted yourself that the bodies were burnt from inside out, right?" She demanded.
"That's a speculation. But why?" He asked her.
"Well, she's been a mischievous drug addict. Once, she murdered her homeless boyfriend for cheating by giving him a taste of her nipples. If she could pull that off, do you think she cannot do this?" She asked him.
"And who's this man walking in?" The man had noticed Julio.
As soon as the manager saw him, she rushed into his arms provoking Julio. He might have done something against her but he was already locking eyes with the other man. There was something about him that he did not appreciate.
"Oh, my darling. You wouldn't believe that the most dreadful thing happened today and to think I sent her to you too would have been a problem." She said,
Gently, Julio tugged her off of him as he asked her a question. His eyes clearly still fixed on the officer.
"What happened?" He asked her.
"Remember that girl I sent to you, well, while you were gone, it turns out she was busy killing people. I'm so sorry that I put your life at risk. You didn't deserve that." She said to him,
The man was already approaching Julio.
"Detective Kelly is my name. Tell me, when the young lady came, was she acting suspicious?" He asked him.
Julio could feel his burning gaze on his face but he somehow already knew that this man was going to read every single reaction. He had to be careful whatever he said going forth because if he said that she had been weird, it was going to make him look like he was trying to transfer the whole thing on her. It felt like he had always evaded the cops too.
"Apart from when she asked me to remove the keychain, I don't think so. She was really nice to me." He said.
This angered the jealous manager.
"Of course she was. That little nitwit. She was probably trying to seduce you and then kill you. I'm so happy that you didn't get hurt. How about we get a drink after they leave just to celebrate that you're alive?" She asked him.
She was clearly taking time to make her shot so she could hold it against him after everything must have been sorted. A clear move showing how dangerous she was.
"So, she did not attack you or try to get you to take anything?" Detective Kelly demanded.
"Not at all. She left after leaving the meal." Julio responded.
"Well, I'll be asking for permission to question you properly. Just standard procedure. One of the officers would come get your details so I can invite you in." Detective Kelly said and then started walking away.
The manager herself was still in front of Julio trying to chat with him while in his mind, he was already wondering if they would ask to search his room. That body needed to move as soon as possible or there would be trouble.
An officer came over and rescued him from the woman herself as he took his details.
"What's your name?" The officer asked.
"Julio." He responded.
"Last name?" The man demanded.
He thought about it and he certainly did not want anyone knowing anything about him until he was already certain that he had an idea.
"Julio." He responded.
"Your name is Julio Julio?" The officer demanded and he nodded. "Weird last name. Guess your dad was Julio. Alright, your email address?"
"I don't have any." Julio demanded.
"You're kidding. How does a businessman not have an email? That's fine though, what about a phone number?" He asked him.
"Don't have that either." Julio responded.
"Social media?"
"No."
"Family and friends?"
"None."
"Are you shitting me right now? Listen, I need something to identify you with and also send you a message." The officer said.
"Just tell me the address, I'll come." Julio responded.
"He probably is a conservative wealthy man trying to be conservative. Look how well he fits that suit. I think you should give him the address." The manager suddenly said as she walked up to them.
She had been eavesdropping and was trying to prove to him that she could protect him.
"Are you saying that you can vouch for him?" The officer demanded.
"I am saying that I will. I'll come with him to the station too." She said, her body twitching like she was in heat or something.
"That's not necessary..." The officer started to say when she cut him short.
"Oh, nonsense. It's no trouble at all. I'm actually happy to be able to help you all. I want that criminal caught before she comes back here and does more damage. She might even try and hurt him." She said as she batted her lashes.
The officer said nothing as he was rather too busy scribbling on his note.
"Would that be all? Can I leave now?" Julio demanded.
"Ah, yes." The officer responded and without the slightest hesitation, Julio was already going upstairs.
He did not want to remain here as he noticed that detective Kelly had been glancing at him. That asshole was going to come back with a search warrant. It might not be his house but he looked like one that enjoyed the chase and taking people unawares.
He got to his room and after looking up and down the corridor to make certain that no one was trying to follow him, he entered the room and locked the door.
He was already inside there for some time when he received a knock. He started worrying only to open the door and she was standing out there.
"Well? How may I help you?" He asked her.
"You owe me a drink. Shall we?" She demanded.
He thought about something when it dawned on him that time was not on his side. He had a task to complete.
"Um, let's reschedule. I really have a meeting, please?" He asked her.
"Only on one condition, you're having two dinners with me." She responded.
"Okay." He said and shut the door.
He dressed up immediately, promising that he was going to take out that dead body when he returns when she would have already started getting herself all soaked in passion and hopefully that she reaches her lover.
He got to the truck and drove off to the store only to be met with more people. He decided that he was going to conduct a stake out.
